2017 ESOC Autumn Preview
2017 ESOC Autumn Preview
Ladies and gentlemen, the ESOC Autumn Championship 2017 is upon us. The brackets are official and the group stage has begun. In attempt to guide you and the bettors through this maze, I give you the following bracket breakdown and predictions. Some notes before I get started. First, I will assume for the sake of simplicity that the groups proceed as seeded. I will also assume that all matches get played. Based on recent history, those may be dangerous assumptions, but letâs go with it!
Region #1 aka the LordAizWise Region

Region Breakdown:
The top seed (based on BlackStar_OP not signing up) is the prior Autumn champion and Spring runner up LordRaphael. He gets a draw out of the box having a region that includes the TWC champion Aizamk as well as previous summer champion Samwise12. Aiz is undoubtedly in great form, coming off his recent domination of diarouga in the TWC finals but there is a big question mark hanging over Samwise12. While he certainly has the talent, will he put in the work to understand the current meta and be able to challenge the others at the top of this group?
Winner: LordRaphael over Aizamk 3-2
Betting Upset Pick: duolckrad over Risi123 2-0
Chaos Potential: Samwise12
Region #2 aka the Drama Region

Region Breakdown:
Arguably the region that will feature the most drama, the question is whether it will be lag, admin wins, #motherfuckingsoldierhype or yumi wall. Based on tournament history, this region should go to goongoon, however his form will be in question compared to more active players like Garja (_Riot) and Soldier.
Winner: _Riot over IamSoldieR 3-1
Betting Upset Pick: IamSoldieR over goongoon 2-0
Chaos Potential: goongoon
Region #3 aka the #ez4so Region

Region Breakdown:
Will this region be easy for Somppu? Doesnât look like it. Another region with a lot of talent and a lot of questions. Erik (snowww) is arguably the best player, but will his team game skill translate to allow him to beat out UhLaN and Somppu? Will UhLaN regain his form he showed in the last tournament where he narrowly lost to Hazza? Will another sleeper emerge? Many questions, and no clear answers.
Winner: snowww over __UhLaN__ 3-2
Betting Upset Pick: Jerimuno over gran_dead 2-0
Chaos Potential: SomppuKunkku
Region #4 aka the Who the fuck is AdrianCarrot Region

Region Breakdown:
The carrot is back, and this time looks poised to move into the money rounds. That all assumes he can make it past the famous KickAss in the round of 64! If he does he should be able to take down Save_your_skill and ESOC founding father Stanley_Winston en route to the round of 8. GiveUAnxiety has a chance to play spoiler in this group as he will be able to use his main, the OP British, is many of the games.
Winner: AdrianCarrot over Stanley_Winston 3-2
Betting Upset Pick: AraGun_OP over GiveUAnxiety 2-1
Chaos Potential: GiveUAnxiety
Region #5 aka the Ro(i)yal Region

Region Breakdown:
A king (to Queen) and a Prince combined with Roi make this a quite interesting region. Kaiser took third in the previous seasonal tournament, but his path to the money is much harder as he has to pass through Prince on his way. Can dicktator or Roi play spoiler or will the top top dogs play out for the round of 8?
Winner: PrinceofKabul over KaiserKlein 3-2
Betting Upset Pick: loloekie over Roiarthurbis 2-1
Chaos Potential: dicktator
Region #6 aka the VC Meta Region

Region Breakdown:
The godfather of the ESOC patch, betting and VC is at the top of the region with treaty god Lukas_L99 while diarouga disciples and council testing team members Hazza54321 and Butifle wait at the bottom. Expect to see a lot of Virginia company in this region. Goodspeed remains the favorite but whoever comes out on top between Hazza and Butfile is fully capable of advancing.
Winner: Hazza54321 over GoodSpeed 3-2
Betting Upset Pick: see above
Chaos Potential: Butifle
Region #7 aka North American Region

Region Breakdown:
Three of the top 4 in this group represent North America, the only region to do so. The obvious clash of the titans and practice partners awaits, as _H2O makes his tournament return and will meet Mitoe in the round of 16. Can Mitoe finally slay the dragon after missing his chance in their last meeting despite jumping out to a 2-0 lead? Or will H2O show that he is still the best player of all time.
Winner: _H2O over Mitoe 3-1
Betting Upset Pick: H2O over Cohenski 2-1 (Cohenski takes a game)
Chaos Potential: Cohenski
Region #8 aka How Bad Are Sepoys?

Region Breakdown
The final region, which features the least happy round of 8 participant, features Sepoy lamer Tit at the top. This region should show us early in the tournament is the -10 HP sepoy nerf is really significant. THe bottom half features the return of mongo10, who last finished third in the Autumn 2016 event, and the always dangerous Yurashic. Look to see the sepoy tested against mongo in the round of 16.
Winner: mongo10 over Tit 3-2
Betting Upset Pick: AtlaS_Peido over Marco1698 2-1
Chaos Potential: AtlaS_Peido

So excited for this tournament. Looking forward to watching these games on stream.
Re: 2017 ESOC Autumn Preview
Region 1 is the most stacked imo.
4&6 least stacked. Rest seem to reduce to a good match up quite clearly so those would be "balanced". Region 2 seems the hardest to call.

I'm confused why you don't have Somppu down to win the ez4somppu region.

Big mistake
I'm not saying he's not good. I'm saying he isn't amazing and he isn't a potential winner.

Re: 2017 ESOC Autumn Preview
Yeah region 1 is clearly the most difficult and region 4 the easiest. Still looks like it will set up for lots of interesting games. By the way I think that in an upset kingofosmane will beat _Riot.
