Hey Com,
my friend bought aoe 3 (Steam) and isnt able to launch the game. When he opens (ESOC-Patch, TAD, Nilla ...) he gets the error "initializion failed". I tried to help him (Windows XP / Vista compatibility mode for Steam and the direkt launcher.exe) without any change. Windows 10 / Steam are upgraded to the newest Versions. Tried also to install "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5" without any success (it just dont open).
We would be thankful for any helpful tips and ideas.

Go to Windows Features (Control Panel->Programs and Features->Turn Windows features on or off). Double click on "Legacy Components", then you will see "DirectPlay" component. If it's turned off, turn it on, and if it's turned on, turn it off, then on again. Then click OK and Restart your PC.

I reached the "DirectPlay" component by a dif way and it was "off" I turned it on for him. Will try to switch it twice mabye it will work.
Re: Windows 10 Steam doesnt work
If you have Windows 10, installing any other OS is an upgrade.
Pay more attention to detail.
