Technical issue with the game
Hi folks. I am encountering an issue with aoe3 and I was wondering if someone could help me.
The game is loading after the cinematics but then does not start. The coin (loading sign) keeps spinning. This happened after I re-installed the EP. I am not sure if this was a factor but the RE is working the same way now.

Re: Technical issue with the game
I had the same problem back when I was experimenting with the Improvement Mod... Reinstalling the game with cleaning the register solved it.
Btw. if you have a technical issue with the game, perhaps it'd be better to post in the Tech Support sub-forum? I'll move the thread for now.

Alright I'll try this! :)
Ok noted. Thanks for moving the post there.

It's only happening with TAD. Nilla is loading normally.

Did you try clearing the registry before your reinstall it?
oranges.
Re: Technical issue with the game
Hey, this issue indicates a problem in the local profile game files, which are not removed upon reinstall.
Rename the folder Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3 to something else and it will be fixed.

Wow it actually worked!! Geniusmut!
But hey, I don't have any saved games when I load the game. Moreover, I renamed it "AOE 3", but instead it created a new folder. So I have 2 folders in My Games now. Can you help me fix this please?

I unfortunately didn't.
Do I just have to delete everything in the Steamapps folder after uninstalling the game?

Re: Technical issue with the game
I am not sure renaming the whole aoe3 folder is a good solution.
Actually deleting NewProfile3.xml in Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\Users3 usually solves the problem. Note that this may mess up your in-game settings so I'd recommend making a backup of it.

Nah that's something different. I see that your problem seems to be fixed with eaglemut's suggestion. Though, this might help you if this problem persists again in the future. Its all about using an application called regedit.exe which is inbuilt in windows to clear the registry of particular files, which resets things back.
oranges.

Deleting the NewProfile3.xml folder alone worked! However, as you said, all setting were deleted. I am trying to fix all hotkeys and settings.
Thank you so much for your help!
I don't understand how this could happen all of a sudden. The game was working properly a couple hours ago. Is it because some folders have been misplaced?
Re: Technical issue with the game
Sorry for hijacking the thread for a moment, but I have a technical issue as well.
I notice that my settlers disappear some time after enemy Uhlans visit my side of the map. This always happens when I am not actively looking at the settlers - I just notice afterwards that they are gone.

Pay more attention to detail.

Well you can fix this by getting to age 3 asap and get some gendarmes out soon.

That's cause you don't have a proper map hack

Your solution seem a good one too. Thank you! Which files should I delete when using regedit?

If removing NewProfile3.xml is enough, that's certainly a better solution.
Could you attach here the previous version of NewProfile3.xml, which caused the loading bug? Perhaps we can take a look and identify the cause.
I don't think this issue is related to the registry whatsoever though.
