Installation Failed

Post by Funjoy »

For Many Years I have played Age of Empires on my computer but when It broke and I switched to my Windows 10 Laptop, whenever I try to open Age of Empires it says Installation failed with a red X and I have no Idea what to do. The only folders Iv'e tinkered with allowed me to easily level up my single player accounts to test out different decks but it worked fine after that and no problems until these past weeks.
And when I open older versions of Age of Empires such as the First and Second it asks for a Product key and Iv'e tried all the Product keys I could find even though I bought the Complete Collection off of stream so Im very sad and confused on what to do.

I assume you mean "Initialization failed".

Go to Control Panel -> Programs -> "Turn Windows features on or off" -> Open folder called Legacy Components -> Toggle DirectPlay
