Voices and Sound problem
Voices and Sound problem
Hello
I have just bought AOE 3 the complete collection. I have tried to play the campaign, but when starting it, I cannot hear the voices of the dialogues, commentaries or any type of voice. I only can hear when I click on a soldier or something. I also can hear birds, and environmental sounds. As well, in the main menu, I cannot hear any type of sound, neither waves nor people speaking.
I am running it on Windows 10, last update.
Can someone help me?

Re: Voices and Sound problem
It seems like there's something wrong with your „Sound" folder in your main game folder. Do you have it untouched?
Re: Voices and Sound problem
On WineHQ this is caused by the lack of L3CODECX.AX in System32. Perhaps something similar could be the case in Shitdows10.
Pay more attention to detail.
Re: Voices and Sound problem
I have not touched anything from any folder. I have just installed it and it is not working correctly. Any suggestion?

Before you do that, try the following things:
1) Make sure you have enabled your sound, both in-game and in Windows. Note that Music and Sound are two different things in-game.
2) Verify your game cache via Steam and see if any corrupted files are detected.
3) Fully reinstall the game via Steam.

Yes the infamous fraunhoufer codec. However it should be pre-installed! This isn't your scrub ubuntu distribution!

Re: Voices and Sound problem
EDIT: Solved. I just had to install the K-lite codec pack. I guess W10 messed with codecs during some update.
Hello!
I´m having the same problem. The game was working fine until recently. Music and sound effects work perfectly. Voice acting on campaign and taunts don´t sound. I´m playing on Windows 10 from Steam distribution. I changed the game language to Spanish and restored back to English. I uninstalled the game, deleted the EP files, deleted the folder in "My documents"... nothing. Any suggestions?
The only thing I can think of is restoring the CD-Key, but the link in this forums is broken.
Thanks,
Sergio
