TAD stuck in loading screen/black loading screens

I have Aoe3: Complete Collection through Steam. When I start the programs, the loading screens are black (can't see anything). In 'Nilla and TWC though, i'm able to skip the intro's etc. and the home screen suddenly pops up after a minute or so. In TAD, I don't get the home screen. It makes me thing that TAD gets stuck at the loading screen. Any ideas how to solve this?

Some people seem to be able to fix this be deleting their NewProfile3.xml in Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\Users3\. Note that this may mess up your in-game settings (incl. hotkeys) so I'd recommend making a backup of it.
