Re: Multiplaying
This happens every Tuesday, they do server maintenance on Tuesdays. Everything should be back up in a few hours.

whats up, i tried to play this game yesterday too and it gave me the same things. are you sure it will work later today?
Re: Multiplaying
You might also want to check your firewall settings and look if aoe3 has internet acces.

Re: Multiplaying
Does it say "connecting to ESO" or "loading home cities"? During maintenance it says "loading home cities", at least for me.

This is true, I did not pay close enough attention to the original question. Checking firewall is good advice, other than that I don't know.

Well, you better wait until server maintenance is finished before trying something else.
Re: Multiplaying
So when do this maintenance end today?

Re: Multiplaying
Sounds like the old login might be messing with the new one (assuming you just bought the game on steam?)
Try uninstalling the game completely (including hidden files, I did this once when I bought the game on steam and the vanilla disk copy was interfering) and reinstalling from steam.

Re: Multiplaying
Sounds like the problem is likely to be your router in that case. My friend has the same problem and the only way he connects to ESO is using VPN.

You can try it if your router has this feature. There are many guides how to do it.
