Problem with starting Vanilla

A guy from Twitch chat couldn't register here for some reason (didn't get a verification email) so he asked me to post his troubles here:

He bought the steam version of aoe3 (complete edition) and can start TAD and TWC without any problems, but once he tries to start vanilla he gets the message "AoE 3 doesn't work anymore".
The OS is Win10, did anyone else have a similar problem and knows how to solve it?

It only has 6 new civs from which only 2 are good to play against, so it doesnt really matter...

idk maybe something to do with 6 new civs, alt key shows hp, a lot more hotkeys, better balance, skirms don't beat cav, more people play it ect

Maybe running vanilla in a different compatibility mode (I use the windows xp option) fixes the problem. At least it works for me, I used to get the same message when I started any version of AOE. I'm still using Windows 7 though, so I'm not sure if it works on Windows 10 as well.

if china steamrolling over every civ unless you beat her before 8-th minute, japan being able to boom without problem or threat of being defeated, sioux bowrider raids is better balance, i would quit playing this game...

I am not sorta new to these forums, but british it seems your opinions differ from everyone else almost to piss them off >.>, you post stuff sometimes that doesnt relate, or stuff that just isnt true.

Nilla is way more balanced, it's not even funny. The only balance problem with Vanilla is the fact that there are so many cheaters.

Yes, these are common issues for bad players. Once you get better you'll learn to deal with these civs. Meanwhile it doesn't hurt to try to adapt your opinion and improving, instead of forcing your opinion in every single forum post.
