So since my desktop died a few months ago its been a bit rougher attempting to play aoe3. I'm using my old laptop and I sometimes and quite often have this issue that I use to have years back when it was my main gaming computer. Basically I'll be playing an aoe3 game and everything will be smooth and then all of a sudden I'll get this like jittery freeze lag that hits. Once it hits it usually doesnt go away until I restart my computer. It's actually worse then normal lag. My game runs insanely choppy but there isnt lag for my opponent, just for me. (and I even think my vils gather slower, as their animations are slowed down.)
The interesting thing is this also happens when I play LOL. In LOL there is a constant fps indicator. My game will be normal at 60 fps then when the lag hits it goes down to like 15 fps and stays there until restart pc. So that is what is also happening when I play aoe3. I was wondering if there is anyway to have a constant fps indicator for aoe3. I also started messing around with settings. I had just about all graphics off and lowest before, changed one or two. My monitor is 1600x900. I noticed if i downscale the game to 1280x720 or something like that it helps the lag quite a bit. (looks lot worse ofc). Does having window mode on or off affect lag at all?
