What do you think about increasing Abus gun price and tweaking their stats a bit:
cost: 75f 100g, pop:2
dmg: 40 (siege), hp: 150, resist: 0.2(ranged), range: 20
damg modifiers : (range) x1.5 HI, x2.0 LC, x0.75 Artillery, x0.75 Cavalry, x0.5 LI, x2.0 Eagle Runners, x0.25 villager

Abus kind of need the opposite tweak. Nerf stats, if necessary reduce cost.
Assuming proportionality between cost and stats, that solution would be better because abus range attack makes them too good at killing their supposed counter (cav) and also very effective (perhaps too much) against other artillery units.

Abus gun are not very good at killing Cav especially Light Cav. If we dont balance their modifiers then Otto has no way to deal with Cav effectively. Janissary are not very good anticav either given their x2.0 against cav. Similarly Cav archers are way worse then goon.

Abus guns are not a skirmisher type unit. They are artillery. They are supposed to be terrible vs cav but they in fact do quite well against them in colonial. That's the main problem with the unit (as well as 3 card upgrades). The damage vs infantry is less of a problem because 1) abus are supposed to counter infantry and 2)they end up overkilling a lot anyway.
Otto don't have skirms, so they have to play around their weakness vs goons with other units/mechanics. To partially compensate for the overall weakness vs ranged cav abus guns are given a x1.5 multiplier vs ranged cav already.

they’re definitely a skirm-type unit as lancers have a multiplier against them while kanyas do not

No, they have the infantry tag, just like grenadiers,mantlets and rams. That doesn't mean abus are designed as pure skirmishers, let alone as counters to ranged cav.
Let's say they're some sort of a hybrid since they share few features with skirmishers. 75% artillery 25% skirms.

They benefit from artillery cards and they have bombard attack, they aren't exactly a skirm. But yeah you use them as you would use skirms.

They benefit from artillery cards cuz artillery cards are designed to give abus guns a boost and not because abus guns receive artillery tag

Can't really call abus guns skirms with that siege damage... Skirms don't kill falcs

Nope. I think you are really missing the point here.
They're artllery units but with infantry tag for design and balance purposes. Basically just like grenadiers, except grens are HI while abus don't have that tag. Aside from that, the only thing that they share with skirmishers is the multiplier against HI and ranged cav, while everything else is different.
They are trained from artillery foundry, cost 2 pop, they have siege damage in ranged mode, they have 18 max range and 4 min range. They have a a different range resistance value. Their multipliers are an hybrid between skirms and artillery. Notably they have x0.5 vs cav rather than x0.75. Then they have x1.5 vs ranged cav just like skirms.
Anyway the point is: they're not supposed to counter goons. People want them to counter goons because otherwise Otto don't have a specific counter. Well guess what, Otto are not supposed to have a specific counter. They still do fine vs goons when mixed with Jans. For what concerns units, jan-abus is the counter to goons.

even on re otto has no counter to mass goons, at least abus guns fired more quickly
