TWC Privateers cards
TWC Privateers cards
TWC nations have a 3 Privateers card in age 2 for 500 coin and 4 Privateers card in age 3 for 500 coin, whereas other civs have only 2 of them for the same prize and have to pay twice as much for the same number of them in age 3, respectively. Why is that? I can't see a reason to be honest. Maybe we could change it to 2 in the next patch iteration, especially given that Aztecs are clearly OP on water?

Re: Aztec 3 Privateers card
2 privateers suck but 3 is quite good card tbh.
Re: Aztec 3 Privateers card
I'm referring here more to inequality rather than the overall quality of these shipments.

aztec age 2 is quite full tbh so they will usually only have schooners and water dance as their water cards. Inequality of bad cards isn't really important. I mean brit have a worse explorer card than jap for example but no one cares.
Re: Aztec 3 Privateers card
All TWC have that 3 privateer card.
Re: Aztec 3 Privateers card
explorer cards are inherently inequal, whereas here you have the exact same prize for the exact same type of units, but only a different number
Re: Aztec 3 Privateers card
It doesn't matter my friend.

It's irrelevant, such cards are usually taken into consideration in half- or full-water decks, which means there will certainly be a spot for them.
Re: Aztec 3 Privateers card
I feel like its a bug or coding error. A privateer is actually quite a bit better than a caravel so this shipment is clearly insane.
Re: Aztec 3 Privateers card
All the TWC civs have it iirc, and I bet that's intentional. Although azzy water is quite good, it really requires a few cards and a full firepit to make it so, making it hard to defend against early water pressure especially in age 2.
Re: Aztec 3 Privateers card
I usually prefer Privateers in water decks as regular warship shipments aren't really worth it considering the sheer value of one on non-TP water maps like Indonesia or Indochina. Additionally, 500 coin or more later on (1000 for 4 and 850 for 5) is not that big of a deal when you boom on sea.
True, my mistake, I'll correct it.
Actually, TWC civs also have 4 Privateers for 500 coin in age 3, which is clearly OP, given that the Europeans — if they have it enabled — have to pay twice the cost.

, 2 Privateers is still a good card IMO, and you can have plenty of War Huts and cheap Canoes to deal with early pressure.forgrin wrote:notification

I feel like 2 privateers could be good, but you could also ship 2 caravells and make a third, which I think is cheaper and probably also stronger.
Re: TWC Privateers cards
you also need to make a dock first, which makes the whole undertaking more expensive. Also you can't pop them all at the same time in a particular spot.

Re: TWC Privateers cards
you are right, sioux water is so good, we must nerf it.
Re: TWC Privateers cards
Initially, I was mistaken --- not only Aztecs, but also other TWC civs have these cards. Still, though, I'm pointing out an inconsequence.

sioux can't go water but are one of the civs that are best at fighting it since siege dance affects canoes.

Well often you already have a dock right. Privateers have a niche spot surely though.

I've never seen privateers in my whole aoe3 career.
