explorer hotkey

hey guys,

my hotkey for the explorer is Y. if i press Y i would prefer that it don't switch my view to the explorer that's so annoying. can i make it work like a control group so that i can choose my explorer but don't switch the view to him? i ask this cause i don't want to give him an important control group.

You can change a control group you don't use ( like 8-9) to y. Otherwise custom hotkeys.

Alternatively,

1) Assign a control group you don't use often (like 9) to y
2) Assign "create control group 9" to whatever you like
3) Assign your explorer to control group 9, press y to select explorer.

Y seems awkward though. I recommend ~.

Tbh you should just group your explorer to 1 during age 1 and then not group him anymore, unless you're playing a civ where explo is important like india jap spain azzy etc

On certain keyboards there is the key "§" on the left side of "1" and I have "§" as the hero hotkey. It allows me to select and find the hero even when he is grouped to a different control group and the key works for both heroes as Japan and India, just need to press it once more to switch between the heroes.

I just use the default find-explorer hotkey (/). Do y'all map that to something else or sth? Otherwise a numbered control group for the explorer seems pointless.

At least on my keyboard „/" key is far on the right. Is it any comfortable or you just happen to have it somewhere else, @Papist
