Finding a way to eliminate the infamous FTJ error should be Microsoft's number one priority for AoE3:DE. I literally cannot count the number of threads I have seen on this topic over the years.

I think one of the most important changes to make the game more accessible to new players would be to change the homecity leveling system. Everyone needs to start with all cards/politicians unlocked or it needs to be made optional somehow.

add a gate hotkey to that

Edit: Have a larger Saved games window (like EP). Much more handy to find your game.

Some people do take them. The're good for when you have some idle time. 210/350/480 XP for free, who doesn't want that.

Granted the +100% hero HP is often left aside.

A new batch of suggestions:
-Fix that slow recs get when played (I guess we can take for granted a good replay player)
-All icons available as avatar; hussars, fish, monkeys, crates...everything
-Units show more stats: Now we can't see units speed or attack rate.
-You can reselect your deck before sending 1st shipment (or before it arrives?) How many times have you picked a wrong deck?
-Enable and disable mods from the game same way aoe2 HD does. By mods I mean textures, UI, etc. Not sure if this could be applied to Napoleonic Era or Wars of Liberty
-Fix politicians, aging with cows is too op.
-Ghurka shootings sound like villagers blunderbuss, make them sound like skirms.
-TC should be built by vills for every civ, not exclusively asians.
-Remove oprichnick box, no idea if Treaty Patch did tbh.

And 2 more which I'm not 100% sure about: Upgrade for berries gathering and new upgrades for military units in age 2. I miss the aoe2 blacksmith, in aoe3 we rely on specific shipments for each civ (musk attack/Hp for brits, cav attack HP for french/germans...) or arsenal in frotress age.

A revamp in the arsenal with atack/defense/range upgrades looks really fun. But maybe it just changes the game too much to be considered, the whole balance and part of the design goes out of the window with that change.

Thanks Interjection for this post. I'd like to start with the fact that we, ESOC and its community AND Steam ensured that AoE3 now get its Definitive Edition. Without us, the tournaments, Twitch streams, community, staff etc. I feel like AoE3 would have died already. Along with the fact that Steam picked the game up and started selling it, we now see the awesome consequence. AoE3 is still a game that's sold a lot, especially during the Steam sales. Everything is on its place, AoE3 on Steam, AoE3 having an awesome community site... what does a community need more...? Right, in this case a better balance. And that's what we'll get!

What I'd like to see is the following (additions):

- EP balance and fixes integrated; applies for treaty as well.
- Moesbar fix
- Observer mode
- More stable servers; fixed 'failed to join game'
- More than 50 units per control group
- Adding a loop to town center vills
- Making it easier to level up with home cities. The time it takes to level 100 is ridiculous. It limits newer players.
- Able to see Nilla, TWC and TAD statistics on any ESO version
- Better chat on ESO. If you're ingame while whispering, you should get a notification
- Being able to click on links or even being able to copy/past text from ESO chat
- Adding a green online symbol in the clan list when a player is online
- Reselecting your deck before sending the 1st shipment
- Improve wall costs
- TP 200w on Vanilla
- Adding building rotator

Bug fixes:
- Attack move bug fix
- Sound bug fix
- Fixed backherds (not sure if it's actually a bug)
- Idle vills on berries without getting the notification
- Alt d fix
- Fix that when you're in a scenario you're still 'online' on ESO
- Fix agra hotkeys
- Message board fix (sometimes posts don't show up in the right order)

Visual fixes:
- Units can walk through a trading post travois or train is unrealistic
- When the traiding post train reaches the end of the trade route, the train wagons disappear one by one
- Boats that sail into each other

I was playing RON recently. The display of current resource gather rate was very useful. It could be made optional. To add extra UI element near Resource counts. Or maybe players have option to display either the number of villagers/ the gather rate of the resource.

Other than that- I want Spies and Priests to be more useful(Spies could bribe? /convert. Priests better at healing, allow multiple priests to heal one unit to minimize army idle time). Mele units like Pikeman or halberdiers tweaked so to be more relevant. Maybe let them be the only units which can snare.

I hope this new version becomes a unifying factor for the segmented AOE3 community instead of further fragmentation.

How did I forget sound bug! And by the way, ''idle vills on berries notification bug'' reminds me a similar one: vills garrisoned in chinese villages notification bug.

No leveling, everything should be unlocked from the get-go.

I think that lowers the challenge to play the game. Unlocking a lot of levels will definitely feel as an achievement to a lot of people. It gives more reasons to keep playing the game, unlocking everything from the beginning feels too easy.

I think it would be nice if everything was unlocked from level 1, but you can still level up your homecity so you can see which ones you've invested the most time into.

It's an RTS not an RPG. It's one of the biggest criticisms still thrown at the game currently. You shouldn't have to level up to play a 1v1.

With an RTS it's not a "reason to keep playing the game" it's a reason to never start playing the damn game in the first place. We really should remove this limitation.

Though that's for cards, you can still level up the "look" of your HC I guess. I have not done that in a long long long time ...

Leveling hcs is possible the biggest problem in aoe3 and should definatelly be removed from multiplayer. Even today if you check aoe2 subredit people dont want to even talk about aoe3, "because its a silly game where you lose because your opponent grinded more for better cards".

It's very unlikely that they put an official shortcut for leveling so unless someone can make an XP mod the game will likely be a fail.

Come on, you don't need many levels to have a standard deck, and someone should tell those noobs you just need a lvl 40 with an euro civ to start all euro civs as lvl 40.
