Civ Ranking in terms of Boom Difficulty

Post by Cometk »

so i think the agreed upon list for boom difficulty on RE patch goes like this:

Iroquois (Very Hard)
China (Hard)
Brit (Hard)
Aztec (Moderate-Hard)
Ger (Moderate)
India (Moderate)
Japan (Moderate)
Dutch (Moderate)
Sioux (Easy-Moderate)
Otto (Easy-Moderate)
Spain (Easy)
Russia (Easy)
French (Easy)
Port (Easy)

but how does this translate to TP? which civs have become easier and which civs have become harder? and how so?

Dutch, Otto are easier I don't know the differences for the others.

[EDIT]

British: no change still easy
Portugal: no change still easy
Germany: not sure still the same steps I think
Iroquois: If pens work now a lot easier
Sioux: unexplored but still the same probably
Aztec: not sure don't play it
French: its pretty much the same
Spain: Easier because of 1000c industrial politician. Not really a bit deal imo.
Dutch: Easier because you don't need to wait around in fortress to get 4v
Otto: No cowing to it should be easier
Russia: I think they got 1000c too but its super easy anyway
Japan: it should be the same, but easier to play as a civ due to the sheep
China: see what Lukas wrote
India: idk not sure

Ger should be hard and china moderate, imo.
There are plenty of small nuances for ger which determine if you boom well or not

It takes a lot of practice to boom high with ger. Sure, the basics are easy to learn for ger boom

China is easier to boom with on TP than on RE. You dont have to time it well with being maxed on 99 vills while not delaying your age 5 too much to get 119 vills.

Other than that the booms are pretty much the same as on RE regarding difficulty imo.

What makes British hard? You get free villagers with houses, and if you don't get raided since it's treaty you can hunt all over map right? Also, using cows is bad right? There is only sheep to be trained, and aging with cow or sending 7 cows card seems poor choice.

Using cows isn't bad, it's actually really good in treaty. You need to send 4 cards to make it that good, which is why it doesn't work in sup. But it works in treaty since you won't have to send the mill upgrades and brits don't have eco theory, so you can afford to send these cards.

With a card you can train cows, they have a build limit of 20. That's why you boom with 20 cows and 30 sheep. That's also what makes it 'hard' -> the fact that you have to manage those animals.

Ah that explains it, mircomanaging both cows AND sheep sounds challenging.

at the pinnacle of this micro is, killing all fattened cows ASAP so that you can utilize your full build limit fattening all the time. so you are microns each vil separately to kill a separate cow sometimes. or even kill them all just so u can build more and take advantage of fattening time

It is hard also because you have to do cows and sheep separately, keep vils nearby to be ready to harvest and so base building takes a bit more thought too

Its not really that hard if you have good enough apm really. I find the German boom much harder to pull off a higher score, but British fairly easy. (I get like 2550 with British but a measly 2300/2400 with Germany).

That's pretty okay though. Not every civ has the same score.

Germany is easier to boom with than brits. There's only one small part where you need a tight macro, which is early fortress when you need to get tcs, mills, market upgrades, settler wagons, houses, vils, while macroing for industrial asap. After and before that part, it's pretty much a standard european boom.
Brits require a lot tighter mechanics. You need to care about your livestock all the time, while also macroing all the other normal stuff. Doing a good german boom (2600+) is rather easy to do when you master the bo and have basic mechanics, but brits require more than that. If you really want to kill all the livestock as soon as it comes out and produce it back asap in your pen, you need a very good apm.

I think brits should boom 2700-2800+ btw, though I'm not 100% sure.

An old list from Fiore for reference scores, but this was a while ago on an old patch. I still find it pretty helpful and it would be cool to get a new one.

ports: decent score 2k pro score 2.2k
brits: decent score 2.3k pro score 2.5+k
ger: decent score 2.3k pro score 2.5+k
dutch: decent score 1.7k pro score 1.9k
otto: decent score 2k pro score: 2.2k
spain: decent score 1.8k pro score 2k
russia decent score 2k pro score 2.2k (both plus 200 if you use church card for upgrades)
french: decent score 2.25k pro score 2.5k+
iro: dont really know where its decent but pro score: 3k
china: depending on your boom from id say ok scores from 2k-2.3k pro: 2.5k+ (idk really know about that civ tho)
aztec: 1.8k decent pro score 2+k
sioux: decent: 1.45k pro: 1.6k
japan: decent: 1.7k pro: 1.9+k
india: decent 2.3k pro 2.5+k

It could matter more that i'm sending 2 setter wagons and so my final plantation shipment is very late, with British though once you practice enough the cowing is pretty easy, but I get where you are coming from it can be intimidating for newer players.

I mean, what exactly is harder than cowing in treaty booms? It's just the hardest mechanic you find there.
Anyway yeah, shipping team sw obviously hurts the boom, but on TP this shipment doesn't exist
