dont buy the content packs ( i still have most of them :) I also bought the music packs, because the original music can get dull if you have longer sessions. The rus awakening is a must have music pack imo, its really great.
concerning DLCs you dont need all ( again, i have all and if youre a true EU 4 enthusiast youll eventually get all anyways. )
most important (in order of importance)also going to try to give basic infos about each dlc altho i cannot possibly know all features per expansion because i bought most of them at once so its kinda hard to differntiate just go the the EU 4 wiki for more infos: -art of war, introduces bunch of important stuff like new vasall interactions, war mechanics and the league wars (30 year war )
- common sense. Gives you ability to develop provinces which is essential becasue of how institutions work
-mandate of heaven. reshapes japan with more mechanics, and adds age mechanic whcih is pretty nice.
-rights of men. ruler traits, national focus and bunch of other things
cradle of civilisation: army proffesionalism, reshape of middle east, new mechanics for middle east nations.
- Cossacks: adds estates ( poorly implemented overall but it just buffs your game overall if you know how to handle them, estate implementaion should also get better with the next dlc i heard ) and buff to eastern european nations.
- purple phoenix: great if you want to play as byzanz which is one of the best campaigns you can do . also cheap i think 99 ct.
mare nostrum: more trade options, forming trade leagues == > buff to merchant republics
res publica : more options for republics.
-eldorado - . Just focuses on america and i think it also gives you a rdm world map generator with custom nations.( i heard this is very interesting to some players- not for me tho )
then theres also the immersion packs. If youre a seasoned eu 4 player, they are great, simply becasue they add new stuff and spice up nations, for new players you dont really need it because you already have to learn enough cna get them later if you have the money and look for some new things.
for more infos go to the EU 4 wiki i think there are detailed lists what each dlc and expansion contains. the order of importance is correct tho. You 100 % need art of war and common sense, causes there are essential game features in it ( which should be free )
