En marche, citoyens!

Post by Laurence Drake »

The French Presidential elections start on 23 April. Who will win? Will this be another Trump/Brexit? Could this herald the end of the EU?

Nederland should've thought about that before becoming a small country.

Haha, or maybe we shouldve considered that our political system is too nuanced to follow without effort.

We also have the le pen problems. We might even be one of the first to be terrorized by such politicians.

I'll personnally vote Le Pen, but she isn't probably going to win unless Wikileaks release their stuff about Macron soon.
I like Macron though, probably one of the best politician guy in the last years.

Roughly speaking and not talking about the points of his program I enjoy a lot the concept of having a left wing program about the labour world, and having a right wing program about the culture and the tradition.

Don't know who will win, but it won't be Le Pen. The French are frustrated about Arab/muslim/African immigration, but they're not particularly happy with her anti-EU positions. Her foreign policy positions are also not very palatable to the French: her support for Assad's regime, her recent support for Israeli settlements in the West Bank, her support for Trump etc.

Neither will Wilders win, he'll get isolated by the other parties forming a coalition without him.

But if the current EU leaders continue with this catastrophic migration policy, far-right parties could start winning elections in some countries in the future.

I'm really afraid of Le Pen winning. It seems unlikely but we've heard that story before. I'm going to bet money that she will win, that way if she loses then I can be glad a far-right crazy person didn't win and if she loses at least I'll have some money as a consolation.

Is it okay if I ask you a few questions?

Starting off, what's your reason for voting Le Pen?

I'm curious how comparable Le Pen is to Wilders. I watched some politics show a few days ago and actually teared up because the politician representing his party was so ridiculously retarded and all the people were just nothing but angry while we live in a great country. It legitemately made me very sad, its such a fucking great time to be alive and all people do is complain. And not just complaining, they're complaining about problems that literally can't be solved. Why do we always have to be so negative :(

Hey sure, you can ask me questions if you want. If people complain, it's not only because things are bad now, but it's also because things can be really bad in the future if we do this kind of politics now. For instance, not moving toward ecological development will make things bad in 20 years.

About why I vote Le Pen, I gonna make a short list of parts of her program that I support :

  • The people will be able to make a national referendum if they want to. Right now, only the politics can make a national referendum. That means more freedom of speech for citizens.
  • Giving more resources to the police and clean up the suburbs where there are a lot of insecurity.
  • Kicking foreigner criminals and offenders from the country.
  • Every product made out of France should respect the same constraints as the ones made in France.
  • More severity in the law against leaders of firm if they fuck the consumers.
  • Giving more money to the Health environment, and so, the hospitals.
  • Coping hard with tax evasion.
  • More severity in the law against leaders of firm if they fuck the consumers.
  • Maintaining the ban of surrogacy.
  • Helping the African countries from the colonial empire not as now. Now (and before) it was basically giving money to dictators in order to let us having access to their huge amount of natural resources. What she proposes is to help developing the schools there and the agriculture.
  • Promoting manual studies at school and not let it as the last solution like it is right now.

kami_ryu wrote:The whole "kick out foreigners" and "French products first" sounds a lot like what Trumplesnort said during his campaign. It doesn't do much except promote nationalism in an "us vs the world" sort of way, which is antiquated as far as I'm concerned. Isolationist policies are a thing of the past. It's fine to be patriotic but that can't be taken too far either.

France is already beyond left-wing so it's funny for me to hear that people want it even more to the left. You guys have free universal health care and education already. Us Americans, we don't get none of that. ;( but you want more, I just don't compute. Americans should be more left-wing but there's already a deeply-ingrained mindset against that sort of talk here. It's slowly becoming something though. Feelin' da bern and all.

If anything France needs a more liberalized economy so that big investors can inject money into the economy. The rich will get rich doing so, but you do get work for it. I speak from first-hand experience, my work is pretty much directly correlated to rich people spending their money doing rich people things. It's not like I sold my soul for it, but I have a job and stability now. Except that I need to shell out thousands of $$$ if I get kids and want to send them to college. I need to pay for health care myself. If I lose my job, fuck me, better get a new one. So I don't get why Euros who have all that social security paid for already aren't OK with rich people gettin' rich. It's legitimately a stimulus to the economy, being a rich entrepreneur doesn't necessarily mean you're Wall St banker scum.

Bah, my arguments are much too simple for a real discussion anyway, sometimes though I don't get why people have mentalities which are ingrained left or right. In America you see so many people who are saying "socialism sucks" without realizing how good it an investment it would be if we made kids smart without crippling them with student debt. Or how people would be happier and more productive if health problems (rather, how to pay for them) didn't keep them up all night. I wish people wouldn't see socialism as a waste of money rather than caring for our society, but....

Not convinced that Macron can deliver the required reforms for this, though. Fillon had a better programme but it doesn't look like he has a chance at this stage.

Perhaps a better poll would be, "Who do you support?" Le Pen, naturally. She is the lesser of two very crap choices.

Fillon is all right but doesn't seem to be doing well.

Nah I don't think people live happier and more productive lives in socialist third-world countries, than in America.

Trump will not win, he'll be isolated by RNC. Brexit is too risky, people won't fall for that. :hmm:

Why do you support a woman who wants to lower the retirement age and enlarge the welfare state?

Those things are reversible more easily than mass migration is.

Better a closed, Socialist welfare state than an open, laissez-faire utopia like America?

There is no 'mass migration' into France.
