I just hope DE is not going to implement all of the EP changes. Right now it is a big clusterfuck.

I hope they will jail you. You'll taste what I've been enduring so far: injustice.

To those who decry "American Imperialism," it is quite obvious that Cuba would have been better off under American influence than under Castro and the Soviets. With Fidel dead perhaps relations will normalize and trade begin in earnest.

Cuba has an amazing health system. It only really falls bad in economy and some other areas. Without US trade I think it has done pretty well. Not to mention taking a stand against Cold-War US taking some massive balls. Castro effectively brought his country out of imperialism and into a much more modern world. It began to decline massively however, when the soviets collapsed.

I do like the Cuban system of having lots of moderately-trained health care providers, which has led to low infant mortality and zero population growth. However, their human rights record is abysmal and the country is very poor by Western Hemisphere standards. Cuba has a GDP $6,051, versus US $53,041. Even Puerto Rico, our poorest territory, has a GDP of $28,529, which is over 4 1/2 times as much as Cuba. Cuba has among the lowest per capita GDPs in the Western Hemisphere, only Haiti, Honduras and Nicaragua are lower.

They tried that - ever heard of Batista?

Cuba would have been better off if America and the USSR had left them out of their contemporary Great Game altogether.

If the USA gave 2 shits about the people of Cuba, they wouldn't have upheld that trade embargo which is an embarrasment to their own free market philosophy and international trade relations and another obvious sign that imperialism just continued in a new form.

@umeu , just want to make sure: do you believe USA is more racist than most other countries, or do you just want Metis to say that indeed, there are racist people in the US (anti white, anti black, anti hispanic, anti jew, and anti asian)?

Why are you so damn stuck on racism; you mention it in nearly every post you make. Most people in America don't care what race people are. You do realize that we have an African-American president, don't you?

Check out this site, it shows how views on race have changed in America.

Yeah! Racism is dead in America--they had a black president, now they even have an orange one!

So typical, and the wrong answer. You say america isnt racist, cause you have a black president, yet you reject that america is racist atkeast in part when you just elected a racist president. Rofl dat logic. I linked u a thread last time, about a fucking mayor making racist comments about the first lady, but u ignored it ofcourse!

Also, that data is useless, 1) i never denied usa wasnt more racist before, some progress is made, despite ppl like you, though people like trump are undoing it even faster. 2) because its no longer acceptable to be publically racist, people are more likely to lie about it, so such polls are unlikely accurate, and then there is unconsious bias and institutional racism, unaffected by the individual worldview.

Your argument is like saying that if hilary was elected president it proves that sexism and misogyny no longer exist in the usa. Lmao
