Re: EP9: SIOUX (actual thread)

I mean we can all agree Sioux gets outscaled by like 20 minutes or so on ep8. If the game goes much further past that Sioux almost always loses if they’re not too well ahead. Sure these changes make the first 10 minutes or so of the game better for Sioux but it just shortens the time Sioux has to ma .....

Shall we poll what % of the community likes the fact japan can sit in base for the entire game, or shall we just keep that design

Re: EP9: SIOUX (actual thread)

Honestly, we shouldn't have implemented these change because now people are meming and complaining that it's not enough. There would be no complaints had you not needlessly totally redesigned Sioux in a mediocre fashion for the 63882th time.

Re: EP 9.0.x Beta [2020-07-08]

@WickedCossack 1v = same eco as 12.5 vills gathering with teepee aura. On ep 8, I have 13 vills gathering with teepee aura as soon as 3v comes in. Sure it buffs early aggression in colo but Sioux still is gonna be dependent on the Bb timing and by the time that hits the changes are negative .....

Re: Tournaments should no longer have civilization rules

Also looking at the quarterfinals on for the pro division I think the player with the better civ Mu went 8-0 in game 1 (this is debatable, but think most people would say the civ with advantage won more than they lost

Re: Tournaments should no longer have civilization rules

Yeah the NWC system isn’t perfect. You see almost no Dutch in tourneys now since they’re easily counter picked, while there’s still a good amount on ladder games.

But it does ad some strategy for setting up a plan for the series. Someone using your best civ to win game 1 actually hurts your chances .....

Re: Tournaments should no longer have civilization rules

Just don't think there's a format better than NWC rules right now. Like for Kaiser/Mitoe with NWC rules you get 1 German mirror always, but then the MUs are almost always different right? If they could pick civs multiple times I think wed get ~3-4 German mirrors in a 7 game series. Maybe mItoe goes .....

Re: Tournaments should no longer have civilization rules

There’s also a middle ground. say player A wins game 1, he then picks 2 civs, say Brit and Iro. Then Player B counters with Germany. Player A gets to pick which one of the two civs he wants to play. Can still be soft countered, but not hard countered anymore. But shit gets complicated and it might b .....

Re: Tournaments should no longer have civilization rules

@Mitoe id say forcing your opponent into a weird situation they’re unfamiliar with should be rewarded. Also makes saving your best civs for A specific map/match up later more viable.

Re: Tournaments should no longer have civilization rules

If I could pick Sioux every time and I agree to a Mu every time, the only civs I need to know are Sioux, Russia if someone wants to Brit, some German counter if someone wants to German, and maybe Otto or Spain for high plains.

Re: Tournaments should no longer have civilization rules

Honestly I’ve been learning new civs recently since I’ve realized a lot of the the in tournees my small civ pool leads to me counter picking into mus I wouldn’t if I had a better civ pool. I agree a game between two players best civs is better than a game between their 7th best civs, but I think be .....

Re: Tournaments should no longer have civilization rules

I actually really like the NWC rules. You gotta win with multiple civs, and you need to plan out what games you want to play what civ. Another thing is my civ pool struggles against Germany. Anyone who plays Germany would be doing a disservice to himself picking anything else besides Germany against .....
