Re: Maybe could we see map before picking civ ?
Additionally, it would help to offset possible balance problems and 'broken' civs in case of any future patches

Re: Maybe could we see map before picking civ ?
Why not just give player like 3 bans on his own civ, 3 bans on his opponent's civ and do a random matchup from the leftovers? Plus strict map pool with possibly couple of bans as well. It would promote diversity and create ladder environment, slightly different from the tournament one. All of this c...

Re: A Focus on 1v1 is why RTS struggles
Also, i think this is a good place to share my impression that even developers and QA folks that are responsible for all the new strategies or their remasters seem to be MOBA or MMORPG players. I see it time and time again - new 4K models that are supposed to be beautiful but are just impractical an...

Re: A Focus on 1v1 is why RTS struggles
I overall agree with you, but I think that there's another issue with RTS for the casual players : it's too hard. Even Age of Empires III, which is among the easiest RTS games, is too hard for a casual beginner. He needs to learn how to manage an economy and an army, make different units (ie learn ...

Re: Quick Search
There is a way to circumvent all these problems while keeping QS as only competitive, ranked mode. There should be a pool of civs you select from, pool of civs you ban and strictly selected map pool from which you can also ban few. Honestly, for couple of years now I've been thinking why such system...

Custom hotkeys bug?
Hey, in CC I used to bind my 'find all x type buildings' to numbers 5-8. Now, for some reason, it just doesn't work, even though I made sure there are no overlaps it still shows that the key is overlapping with something and using it just doesn't do anything. It works fine as long as I bind the key ...

Or in your subconscious you knew you were a fish at poker! Yeah, I don't remember if ithought about this at the time, but it definitely has added value of multi-level joke because of it :D Nemo means "nobody" right ? Yup, maybe my English translation wasn't prefect, it's closer to sth lik...

Re: Names with unique meanings?
Now that's a cool thread, how did I miss it? My name was created when i needed nickname for poker site. I really love latin, and when i thought about what characteristic should a poker player have, I reminded myself a latin saying 'nemo sapiens, nisi patiens' which basically means 'isn't wise, who i...

Re: Uhlan pronunciation
Yeah, aaryn pretty much got everything right. I can only add that for Polish native speaker 'uhlan' sounds pretty okay, you really get used to it pretty quickly. Disaster happens only when we get to imperial and caster has to pronounce 'czapka'. It's also from Polish and means simply 'hat' for thei...

I mean, sure, I also think it sounds a lot prettier in original and it's great to see someone lobbying for it :D. I guess I just kinda accepted the fact that it's next to impossible to change such popular pronounciation and that the word is a victim to certain internationalization (the same is proba...

Re: What kind of screen for AOE III DE
I mean, it seems ok, I don't have any dissonance after switching to full HD for RTSs, sometimes i even made switches from 24" at my parents' house to 27" and it felt similar. I guess the circumstances when it really matters is when you use too big of a screen with too low resolution for wr...

Re: What kind of screen for AOE III DE
Hey, I actually have both 27" 2560x1440 (144 Hz) and 4K 32" (60Hz), so maybe my opinion can help a little. There are few things with both of these settings that are up to your preference, but what i feel like is: 4K 32" - difference in, let's say, overall comfort is definitely in favo...

Re: Why is AoE 3 > AoE 2?
Exp and shipments are obviously great and add whole another dimension to the game, but I also feel like it could've been done a lot better. It could be a whole new resource to manage and invest in sacrificing other aspects, right now it's just added bonus that helps winning player to snowball game f...

Re: Why is AoE 3 > AoE 2?
Basically what Mitoe said, plus interesting historic setting. Games set in middle ages are far more widespread and common. I also had decent knowledge of european history up to about 1500-1600, so it was nice opportunity to learn something. Like I was really shocked when i found out some of the unit...

How can you ban sompu for all events for 6 monts for this little slipup. Are you serious? Its not like he did it to abuse anything or interpreted the rules to his favour. The moment sompu quit the game was 99 % over. Its not like he dropped soemone or used cheats. I really hope you reconsider this s...
