Nayuki's strats

Having seen his name associated with weird/unorthodox - yet somehow efficient -strats with Dutch and Brits on several occasions I became interested what the fuss is about. Alas, I haven't been able to find any recs at all save for couple of measly games on the JP community site. Apparently he also h .....

Re: French

@Luciofrancosi There is no way France is favoured over India on RE taking the entire map pool into consideration (I couldn't care less about the odds on TP maps with lucky res spawns as it's such a rare occurrence). I agree with you fully that the needed skills to hold a rush is far greater than the .....

Re: French

Look, 'higher level' players exclusively play on maps with plenty of safe hunts and mines. At least two safe hunts are needed to pull off a semi and probably three in order to hold timings/gather strength to safely push out. The Achilles heel of semi FF play is to run out of safe res to gather upon .....

Re: French

Old meta is to call 8 xbow as first card when faced with India 10/10. 700 Wood, 4 coureurs/3 sw and 8 xbow can be sent in any order depending on the tactical circumstances at hand of course. Compulsively sending 4 coureurs as first card in colo no matter what is only viable on the ESOC patch.

Re: French

Below is link to a short guide detailing one of the oldest and most effective colonial strats for France, namely crossbow pike. It works on pretty much any map and is easy to execute, leaving the player time to focus on army control and proper allocation of villagers.

I wouldn't recommend semi strats .....

Re: What happens when you do rated vs Garja

In all cases of rebellion, the excesses of the power that defends itself are the fault of the rebel. So in fairness any blame for punishments, even those perceived to be on the harsh side of strict, should not be directed at the ESO-C moderation team.

Re: French stagecoach semi FF?

I agree, I was referring to the medieval tournament mindset concerning the meta when the previous poster alluded to a situation where aggressive play would have been preferable.

Re: French stagecoach semi FF?

Please refer to my initial post, it is considered disrespectful to play non-meta (club-rushing bad, semi good).

Re: French stagecoach semi FF?

In addition to my previous post it deserves to be mentioned that the strategies on display in tournaments, which one often seeks to emulate, are conducted in a laboratory like environment where observers will cry foul if a player is missing hunts or mines. What can you do when trying to pull off a t .....

Re: French stagecoach semi FF?

@Riotcoke Om RE there's simply not enough of close by hunts to fuel any sort of greedy play resulting in literally all strats revolving around early aggression. It's just the occasional lucky spawn on a few maps (eg GP and Siberia) that allow for semi play with euro civs, and ever so often one is hu .....

Re: French stagecoach semi FF?

The greed meta is only viable on the ESOC patch with ESOC maps while only playing against a select pool of players, who in accordance with the cult of good manners, will adhere to the same strategies. On RE most attempted semi or greed play with hunt dependent civs is punished badly by early colonia .....

Looking for recs from the goodspeed vs boneng showmatch post-PK Clan tournament hosted by @Veni_Vidi_Vici_W, can't seem to find them anywhere. Also recs from the aoe3battles tournaments would be of interest if they're still out there.

Re: Typical German vs X mili pop graph V2

@Astaroth adding to your point, I have seen players such as MusketJr pull off very clean and convincing musket pressure vs Germany in high level games so certainly it can be done and is very effective. Lack of imagination is no sound basis for overhauling the entire game by nerfing civs one has a vi .....

Re: Typical German vs X mili pop graph V2

BSOP did a 10/10 Japan rush vs Garja's france and won decisively on stream. The whole notion that some players have been blessed with an arcane knowledge of the game rendering their dogmatically held beliefs beyond question is simply cringe worthy.

I think BSOP had great success rushing with Japan, if that is what you are referring to, and the videos are still available for download (Buckethead hosts them somehow on a web service). I would've loved to see how any top player today would have fared with France or Germany vs BSOPs or H2Os Japan i .....

Re: Typical German vs X mili pop graph V2

I know plenty of habitual nilla civ players who have spiked at least +5-10 PR by switching to/learning asian civs, breaking out of the capt-major swamp. In fact I have records of such players trying asian civs for fun beating (legit) PR 35-40 players in qs. If someone could provide a single example .....
