Re: Indians: Port Consulate FI

I mean, 16 range is pretty meh in Fortress. I think unless you’re holding some kind of Colonial timing 9 Yumi is just better.

Though personally as Japan I too prefer to have an economic upgrade instead of Intervention since I already have essentially 8 military shipments in Fortress.

Re: Integrity and Fair Play

I’ve always assumed that the long-term plan was to eventually have a self-sustaining career based around organizing and running events. It’s a risk, for sure, but one that could work out in the future if AoE4 does well.

@Dolan I don’t think anything I said in that post is inconsistent with my latest post?

Your assertion that they don’t rely on anything is confusing, and honestly makes little sense to me.

There’s some kind of misunderstanding here. Both the short-term and long-term plans for the guys at Escape (as fa .....

Nope, you’ve definitely missed it.

It doesn’t matter where the money came from—and I’m not naive enough to believe that it came from streaming, nor did I assert that their revenue is dependent on stream income. As GoodSpeed mentioned they would have little reason to exist without AoE, and it’s someth .....

Very few, if any, I would say. Especially in tournaments.

I think cheating is more apparent to observers and other players than your post implies.

Re: Microsoft is putting an Age of Empires survey, make your voice heard!

Something I like about AoE3 is how versatile the map design is. I’ve always found that other RTS games—especially Age games—are always just filled with choke points, largely because they have these giant impassable clusters of trees because of the necessity of drop sites. So AoE3 can have very open .....

Re: Microsoft is putting an Age of Empires survey, make your voice heard!

I have to agree with GS that AoE2 is popular for more than nostalgia/timing. It's simply a very solid RTS game.

That being said GS--and as you've already acknowledged--the game design stuff can be very subjective, and I'm definitely biased but want to give my thoughts anyway:

A few months? That sounds like a very very optimistic estimate considering we know next to nothing about AoE2:DE, AoE3:DE, or AoE4.

To be honest it feels to me like all that build does over Kynesie's is send an even earlier signal to your opponent that you're not making units.

Re: [Poll] Do you think the game would be better without these freebie scouting options?

I agree that it's a misplay, but that's not the point. I don't see how you can possibly argue that 30 seconds of forewarning for free is not impactful.

Think about how big it is to see if Japan is going for 600w or 5 ashi as their first card, for example. It's game changing.

What if India had to annou .....

Re: [Poll] Do you think the game would be better without these freebie scouting options?

It still ruins the surprise factor for sure, even if you delay the TP until the last possible moment. It takes at least 15-30 seconds to train units AND walk into the opponent's base, depending on the nat and the positioning of the nat post, and seeing the nat TP in the score line definitely allows .....

Re: Indian Discussion Thread

Making it short isn't necessarily a nerf. You can't always chase someone for a full 20 seconds, as oftentimes the last efw seconds is just enough time for the opponent to get a better position in a choke point or escape etc. Making it short means you can flank and call it instantly and in the brief .....
