Re: Kaiserklein is Back!!

Don't use laptops for gaming and streaming. Laptops are shit.
Unless they're some of those huge spaceship-looking ones that have enough vents and the chassis is big enough to fit more powerful components, they're all useless for gaming.

Re: COVID-19 / Coronavirus Outbreak

Yeah well.. it's not just the media that are to blame. The media just serve the product that appeals to the widest audience.
So it's the people who look at politics as a big TV show who are the problem. If the public didn't like reading about scandals, the media would have no incentive to write about .....

Re: COVID-19 / Coronavirus Outbreak

I doubt the influence of capital on politics is something that new and that it got worse today than it was, say, 150 years ago. In the early days of modern democracy and capitalism, capital played a bigger role, because wealth disparity was much bigger back then and politics was a lot more unregulat .....

@iNcog
https://www.theregister.com/2021/07/26/dell_energy_pcs/

The state of CA adopted some regulations on power consumption which ban selling some PCs. Apparently even a system with an i5-11400 and a GTX 1650 (which are midrange specs) are not allowed to be shipped there and in a few other states.

This idea was shaped by the colonial Protestant experience in the New World, where the state were a bunch of English owners acting on behalf of the cro .....

Apparently buying a desktop PC with a GPU from 2019 and a midrange CPU (like i5 11400) is a power drain, according to the state of California.
You're probably only allowed to get a tablet now or an older PC.

@duckzilla Yeah, exactly. It's the same for Napoleon, he brought a lot of destruction but also set the foundations for a lot of useful things.

Maybe a better example of a great leader is Majorian, one of the last emperors of the Western Roman empire. He was the last one who actually mounted a forcefu .....

@duckzilla I'm not gonna discuss de Gaulle's entire political legacy, but for example his position of vetoing Britain's entry into the European Community shows he had a foreboding that such a move would create trouble in the future. And that's what happened, history pretty much confirmed him. That k .....

I did say Biden was unfit, but then 5 years ago I also said both Clinton and Trump were unfit. What can you do if your political system fails to produce real leaders.
I've seen a similar trend in my country too, though, I don't think it only happens in the USA. There must be some kind of social dynam .....

Re: What would we accept as maximum complexity in this game?

Nilla's 8 civs plus TAD's 3 was more than enough complexity. I think TWC civs were not really necessary. Or maybe only Aztecs could have been included and one nilla civ removed (Ottos?).
So 11 civs would have been more than enough complexity, while still allowing a more manageable level of balance.
I .....

The reason why I wrote the reply like that, instead of just addressing each point from your previous reply, was because it was necessary to establish what AG and the policy network actually do, in the most concrete terms, so that there's no room for vague arguments and discussing on the surface of t .....
