The way I view it is where the most resources are to be made. Having 5 idle vils or slightly mis macroed is less important than winning the fight often. There are 1000s of resources on the line for proper control in those fights. Plus natural resources disappear faster when you macro better which is .....

At the end of the day the best player is the one who performs when there is high pressure and money on the line.

We saw lots of great games in the LAN setting and the play was high level :).

The AS fanpatch also wasn’t that good. It didn’t have great changes, no new maps, no technical features integrated. Losing that patch isn’t much.

Given more time and effort put into ESOC patch there is a lot to give up really.

This format is basically double elimination in each group. Double elimination is very fair because it ensures that people aren’t eliminated due to seeding and it’s structure gives the 2nd place slot to the right player.

Once you win two series your through. Mitoe couldn’t get to two wins against the .....

Yes I never did. I was always more interested in ELO and with the decay mechanic it was just too difficult to get to PR 50 for me :(

I preferred EP ports. The maps and the food reduction makes their desperation timings different and they are really good on high tp maps.

I also find that their early to mid colonial timing with 8 bows is pretty interesting. I have games out there beating both Russia and Spain in late tournament rou .....

Yeah this is why you have to make a judgement call in a sense on what is good for the game. It’s very difficult to make these calls.

Also the idea of intended mechanics to increase APM and micro feels very empty to me. I feel like sc2 is a prime example of this. Every apm based mechanic feels too in .....

Alt d is just shitty for the game and obviously so. We should add one button where you can also revive your cav that dies and then pretend that’s a good idea.

I am. You can have 25 skirms walking and 10 shoot. Then right click them all again and the 10 behind will sprint to catch up.

It all falls under the same mechanic though each one is a different application

It’s actually relevant when it’s all the same type. You can shoot with the front row while the back row is walking and pull the skirms so they are effectively never wasting movement time to shoot.

Or the example above where I talk about forcing the long formation to push units ahead.

Snare does effect pull speed I am pretty sure. I also don’t think it’s that easy. It’s one of the more nuanced unit control things I do. If it’s easy then we should see lots of folks doing it for free PR.

The unintended mechanics are what makes high skill plays so exciting. I never cared about the “devs intentions” argument. The devs were regular people like anyone else. Starcraft broodwar has tons of unintended mechanics like mutlisk stacking (group muta with one overlord far away and they clump so .....

It does prevent you from having the surprise factor of deleting a building to engage when they are less likely to be looking there.

micro is more important. Most high level players have decent micro/unit control tho so the effect of micro on sucess tends to be underplayed. When I got to play vs h2o on qs I realised that. He did his howdah build .....
