I can certainly relate to you Kaiser - ever since DE was released I never was even remotely motivated to play the game anymore. I'm pretty sure that without DE aoe3 would have had a better future - maybe fewer players in the short term, but longer-lasting. Also I think many guys from the old times (...

Re: update sucks
cannot levy mm as USA. The icon is not in the TC and pressing the icon on the left side of the screen UI does nothing. It reads, "select a building to call minutemen from." Also did not work when I reached age 2 or ensured it would not overpop. Screenshot (181).png edit: you can "tri...

Re: Toughts on moving Aztec 3 War Priest to age 1?
Moving the card to age1 is not useful because you can't dance for priests in age1. Bear in mind sending 3WP in age1 to get more shipments for the rush is a flawed reasoning. No TPs or WPs or anything in the game compensates the xp of a shipment in the first minutes of the game. Most of this stuff j...

Re: The level of play is much higher now than in 2005-2010
Just watching that PK video you can see how poor the build orders were from that time with the lack of knowledge etc. Grunt going 700c 3 huss as otto for example and the french player aging to age 3 with skirms and shipping a fort first, it's like watching pr20 build orders. You have to keep in min...

Re: Your best trading strategy
What sort of strategies are you thinking of, can you give an example? I think the best approach is to rely on machine learning. It's the most obvious idea to build a reinforcement learning agent and beat the stock market, but unfortunately, it's not that simple. Yet, I'm convinced that if you find t...

Re: Best Players of all time
How was he not the best player during his era after grunt? IIRC he won at least half of the tournaments until wcg08, he was leading the ladderboards and had the highest PR ever. Also you shouldn't forget that he contributed A LOT to the community by posting a huge amount of his recs. At that time, t...

Re: Best Players of all time
Having played all the guys mentioned in this thread on a high level (except grunt maybe, who I only played against when he was smurfing years later), the most dominating players to me were H20 and Samwise during FP. It was literally impossible for me to win any matchup by standard play, I could only...

Hey, I just noticed you can't download recs from RTS Sanctuary anymore. Does anyone know if there is a workaround or if they are stored somewhere or are the all lost?

Re: British Strategy
Do wall segments get LOS in DE? .. on RE it was incredibly strong to build single wall pillars for LOS, also because walls had more HP. But walling a manor is way too time and resource consuming. You can just build aggressive manors however, which is rather common.

Aussie_Drongo's AOE3 BIO: In my first video, at 00:23 I reveal my ESO username, which was "Darkalbino_". I first began playing AOE3 back in 2006 and entered the competitive scene soon after. I met a player named Braidon in a 2v2 on Texas, and we became friends, with me joining his Austral...

Re: Old Players returning speculation thread
I think some people here forget the rocky start of legacy aoe3... it was even worse than DE. You couldn't properly play online for more than 6 months. Completely wacko balance too. Parfait had a nice blog where he described all these things. Compared to that, even DE is a gift of the gods :ship: wo...

Re: DE list of issues
Maybe I misunderstand the concept, but shouldn’t a game optimized for today‘s modern engines also be more efficient on an old engine? Like I see the point, that if you want to play in HD or something an old engine can’t handle it computationally. But given the same resolution as TAD, I would have ex...

Re: DE list of issues
Can anyone with some computer science background explain, why the game needs so fking high RAM in order to properly work? I could play SC2, Dota2 and TAD on highest settings with no problems at all. But DE is just IMPOSSIBLE with 8GB of RAM. Even on lowest settings it is way worse than TAD is with h...

haha 500f age up for 2 settlers + 2 cows or outpost and 200g is both insane for brit xD you can just age asap, build houses during transition and ship 700w as first shipment with age up time of 2:30  Edit: Okay the 3rd age up politicians are even more hillarious, it's obviously a feature of the...

Re: Writing an AI script for Age of Empires III (Part I)
I wonder if you could build a neural network to play Aoe3 on a competitive level. Personally, I believe no (at least not by self-play approach like in Go and Chess). But if you fix the map and the deck and maybe the matchup you could get pretty far I think.
