Any developer support from 2009 to 2019 would have been great. If I recall the only thing that happened in these 10 years was taking down the servers for an hour every Tuesday. The fact that it survived aswell as it did with no dev support is remarkable and a testament to what a great game aoe3 is/w...
How can they launch a game with the hotkey support equal to a 1998 game? This still blows my mind how they released a big RTS without custom hotkeys, I was waiting till they fixed this before playing but I now seem to have lost any interest I once did have. I spent £50 and played 7 campaign mission...
Caved in and purchased it before the hotkey fix, though only for the singleplayer action. Anyone else done the campaign and what do you think of it or only ultra competitive multiplayer action on ESOC? I'm up to mission 6/7 on Normandy and the unlockable videos are very well done, excellent addition...
Even if this was true, it's weird to me that people are so offended by streamers possibly making decisions that improve their revenue. Exactly, it's basically how any other career works ... Anyways it's irrelevant in this case as anyone who's been around aoe3 will know that not that only is it not ...
that's funny u7 , when I watched his stream I thought 'ah this is pretty doable' and saw the things where he was lacking. perhaps I just have that competitive hunger rn Yes well I've been playing RTS on and off since 2005, I have the unfortunate experience of knowing where my lim...
this message is a bit of a reponse to the title: I was watching hera play and he had this fight with bow+pike vs cav+ bow and afterwards he was like holy shit that was so intense micro and how he did well etc. but i feel like they don't do anything special, they basically micro how i micro (bows sh...
A lot of aoe3 representation in the top 100, makes me want to play! :P I spy so far: Mitoe GUA Knusch Soldier Lemmings Don Jui mrCheese (?) Khorix H2o Jeri I guess the aoe2 pros taking a more longer term approach and working on understanding the game rather than win rate or are they just bad? Then a...
What key mapping is currently customisable? I'm aware it's not great, but I heard you can do some of it? House, attack move? I'm debating getting it but want to wait till like 95% of the important keys are remappable. Hopefully anything missing is a priority for the first big patch.
No custom horkeys is dumb indeed. Everything else is fine. Hidden score is weird tho for an aoe game. I guess there is still the kill landmarks winning condition so it makes sense. I don't get this - as a non coder I have the impression that programming re mappable keys should be elementary. Anyone...
I personally also think it makes it way easier for newcomers to play the game because you don't have to be worried about a minute 1 zergling or zealot or some other meme shit. Maybe that is just me but i distinctly remember really liking that period of peace when i started playing. It's one of a nu...
How do we know that you u2 are not a bot account created by the semi-FF lobby? I've had my doubts for a while now. I thought ESOC was a safe space but I think some of the twitch bots might be now posting here too. :hmm: More concerning is that the semi-FF lobby may have hacked the...
Any chance you might be able to get them (or winner) on for a brief 10-15 minute postseries chat with Drongo? Though I guess as they are recorded games they might not be around or mid aoe2 stream.
I'd take Hispaniola over a lot of other RE maps purely because you never get resource screwed. 90% of RE QS games there is a game deciding hunt/mine screw. Pretty civ dependent ofc though.
Worst map for me is great plains. This map can gtfo with it's hunts.
Just to add to this, my perspective is actually mostly as a viewer. If these kinds of restrictions are arguably going to make for lower quality games, then I struggle to see how it could be good for the audience. People complain about mirrors, about popular civs, etc. but ultimately what everyone w...
Yea I agree with Bram, for what it's worth after playing a few games with them my initial impression is that they are on the weaker side. I think they will struggle a lot at the 5 min - 9 min mark of the game but for sure if you come out of that well their scaling looks very decent in terms of both ...
Good stuff! Thx to the Royal team for putting on the event. It's great to have a setup like this that balances the line between casual/competitive quite well, the number of sign ups showed a lot of people like the format and provides the opportunity to those who wouldn't necessarily get to...
u2 did the maths on it a while back showing market start is more villager seconds (this is 1.5 years ago so before DE and this patch), I copy in below. You need the right age 1 though to ensure the no idle at any point (before and after aging) but assuming you get it then it's jus...
u7 the 5-1 Esoc finals you are talking off (I presume h2o, Raphael, blackstar op) although 5-1 or similar in score were still pretty close, intense and exciting to watch. Well a finals is a finals ... by which I mean you already get excitement purely from the prestige it adds. Su...
u12386 - Respectfully disagree. I think one of the reasons the matches were so good is that a meaningful prize creates better action. That's not to say $300 isn't good money, just that I don't think it will bring the same attention and excitement. I will look to supplement this w...
I really do miss power rating. If the system had it's flaws fixed (high starting variance), which is easy to do, it's so superior and a darn sight cooler than elo.
