Re: Seasonal tournament

I would like high level standard 1v1 gameplay on 'normal' maps. I dont care about the format.

Re: Some Crazy Tournament Ideas

Am I insane for just wanting more standard solid gameplay? Fair/interesting match ups with good players using good strategies? The game won't get more interesting by just making everything weird/random, as the magic of the game to me is discovering how one normally should play.

Re: Making cav and idling vills

In my experience, whenever a civ has no units at all it's good to just 'waste' your cav idling them. For example if some civ decided to naked FF or is doing some very greedy BO, it is absolutely worthwhile to just park your units under their TC.

Re: Rewarding Aggressive Play

The meta does naturally evolve into longer and longer games, and that would be fine (it has been for AoE2) if this game was anywhere close to balanced in late game. Thing is there are such massive differences in scaling between the civs that it takes a large skill gap to overcome these. I don't thi...

Re: Pull" Trick" discussion

Here are some facts Alt-D - There are two designed explorer revive mechanics in AoE3. One is from the Town Center and allows you to pay a ransom that costs you 100c, gifts your opponent 100c, and delivers your explorer back to your TC with full HP. For Asian and Native civs this is even more costly...

If you want proof that it was intended, here's a post from an Ensemble employee about the pull mechanic and the snare mechanic on heavengames back in 2005: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/235241521157242881/510641452896878592/unknown.png Heavengames thread is here: http://aoe3.heavengames.co...

Re: Rewarding Aggressive Play

So even if the other civ has eco options you mean? In that case I think the meta would definitely result in a passive playstyle for Russia's opponent? Because obviously that's what works best for them right? But Russia would be aggressive clearly. My point is that the meta will evolve towards whate...

Re: Rewarding Aggressive Play

That's not what I said at all really (maybe I'm missing some context, I only read the last few posts prior to that one?). My point is that the meta will always naturally evolve to playing more passive than your opponent to abuse defender's advantage and squeeze out an advantage later for some kind ...

Re: Pull" Trick" discussion

Reviving your explorer with a single button is not a game feature; it's stupid, unskillful, and abusive. And that's the end of the discussion on that one. What a stupid attitude, sorry but this behaviour is so offensive. You don't even want to consider stepping out of your own bias to hear some oth...

Re: Rewarding Aggressive Play

I don't get it. If you buff russia's no vill rush and remove all eco options, the meta should still naturally evolve towards passive gameplay? If you make units that are very sturdy and can always escape and easily kill villagers, then how will the meta ever evolve to be passive? I can't even see ho...

Re: Pull" Trick" discussion

Fine, I can understand the attitude thing. The whole "end of discussion" thing was a bit off-putting. Sorry for that. However, Alt-D as a topic of discussion does not have a lot of depth to it and I think I've seen pretty much every possible argument for it to be a legit game-mechanic and...

Re: Dota 2 AI beats pro players in 5v5

I recall watching some human vs AI showmatches in the last TI (which was last year or something, possibly where these showmatches are from? I dont follow the dota scene much). From what I recall this match is from semi-pros against the bots, and I think in the end the semi pros won that series 2-1 ...

Re: Rewarding Aggressive Play

I'd need to see games where this actually happens. I've never seen it tbh. I can't even recall games where one player transitioned to mills and survived while the other player was still hunting. It happens quite a lot. People like Jabba or breeze, or Kynesie obviously, like to just make walls and s...
