Re: Too much ports and sweden in tourneys
Portugal is more situational at least. Realistically I question some of the maps being in the pool. It just begs for Portugal picks. Sweden though? Ugh... the games I’ve seen lately are largely an exhibition of how broken that civ is. I think you can’t change things now unless the players involved u...

Re: How would you buff the Ottomans economically if you were the developer?
Otto is the biggest civ that points out the flaws in the tp/no tp map ordeal. Personally I think as long as you are not on a no water/no tp map Otto's economy is okay. They need to be able to put their starting wood into some sort of meaningful economic advantage asap otherwise they are significantl...

Re: Introducing the "Play all Civs" challenge
ok it's been a week of playing nothing but the germans and i gotta say it was pretty brutal, i basically lost most games. a week doesnt seem like enough time to learn a totally new civ. on to the next civ, which is gonna be Ports I think. will try to get some wins before they nerf CM I've been play...

u277 the other card was assassins and has never been changed and good memory. I thought I kept good track of things. Great house was really ridiculous and that wasn’t nerfed for at least two or three months if not longer, things were really really slow back then. It was also combi...

lol wat were agents like in those days, they are supposed to have increased los right? Nah the los is one of the few things that didn’t change. Spies as a base had 10 attack rather then 5 but lower multipliers. Agents increased their attack to 15 I think but their HP increase was absurd, I think it...

Re: I am tired
I fully trust that next Tuesday (when the USA event ends), a new update will come out with new balances. Hopefully the meta can be changed a bit more. Don’t bet on it. Expect some random Aztec nerf or buff, a small handful of logical changes but nothing serious against Sweden, Spain Logi, Port Cm/w...

If we're getting into a game design discussion, maybe go watch GDC's Cursed Problems in Game Design by Alex Jaffe (think he's a League of Legends designer). Because you two are arguing over a cursed problem :hehe: You're both right and you're both wrong. But mostly, you're both wrong because you ha...

Japan might be frustrating to play against, but its also pretty awesome to play as them. I almost feel like it cancels eachother out. No offense but based on what you said about liking things like 20 range goons and old han the way it used to be, I can see why you would think so ;). I take no pleas...

Re: i have created a thread to definitively balance the game, on the official forums
I agree that Japan's early game weakness could be patched up a bit. I argue that Japan is balanced, but no fun at all to play against. Therefore if you straight up nerf them, its obviously going to make them weak. My issue with Japan is and always has been that they force the opponent to play a cert...

Re: Anti water strats
just looked the spain game. I think it is normally impossible to challenge port water at age II against 3 docks+ TC. Kaister play extremely passively in this game. There was a lot of talk about kaister misplaying and not being that familiar Portugal. I think it’s easy to say such things though I do...

Yeah I’m okay with yabusame just not with Ashi and Yumi since Falcs would otherwise be a decent answer to both. Maybe make it a bit weaker vs. hand cav so that high range resist can be better negated and y’know neuter Ashi and Yumi a bit and compensate them somewhere else.

Thanks for doing this. Talking to people about setting up a similar exhibition involving my favourite civ Japan on no TP maps.
Also weren't you supposed to play different civs. You've won with Spain twice unless that's a bug. I didn't see all the games live, most of them though.

Re: Want to have some tournaments with different rulesets similar to smackdown
I considered having 10 minute treaty with any sort of age 2 or 3 start with 1k resources for exactly this reason. Other basic alternatives include no going beyond age 2 or 3. Still not really want I want to do but yay dysfunctional edition. I talked to u6732 they said they’d look ...

Re: Want to have some tournaments with different rulesets similar to smackdown
I would want a patch with a significant rework of the aztecs unit composition and a good aggro option for Portugal (with a nerf to their +5% food gather rate to compensate). I personally used to like atp natives as an aggro option for Portugal but because they aren’t reliable at best due to the inc...

No TP maps are competitive enough in a tournament setting Really? Thought you wouldn’t think so, dunno why. Interesting. So for clarity in your opinion what makes a map uncompetitive or if you prefer name three maps that are somewhat commonly played that aren’t competitive. Trying to get an underst...

Honestly any no tp map is not competitive, especially if it also lacks water. It so drastically changes the balance that it cannot be and more maps have trade routes then ones that do.

Dude, go for it. Anything that adds and that is different. Just figure out a fair format for the patch notes, somehow. Seems to be the biggest hurdle here. That and getting games to actually get played. Well I figured I’d adopt a similar format to what smack down used. All done on one day. You eith...

Not a bad idea and obviously this works. Admittedly though, I have a feeling I know how that will turn out. Nevertheless I’ll look into it.helln00 wrote:you can just try the different resource settings on the normal game first.

Want to have some tournaments with different rulesets similar to smackdown
Hey, Tried discussing this with a few people. Ideally I want run a weekly/fortnightly tournament with around 50-75 US prize, maybe more if interest is high. The twist is though that the game patch is written by the players. I'm not sure of the viability of 'fan patching' DE. I know that mods are not...
