Doesn't really change the fact that all he does now when he does play is talk about how much he hates the game.

Re: Where did BLACKSTAR_OP gone????? Miss him so much!!
Zoi's post was pretty accurate actually.
Essentially, during the Summer Tournament Blackstar forfeited halfway through a series with MusketJr and hasn't really played more than once a month or so ever since, and everytime I do see him on all he does is complain about how bad he thinks the game is.

Re: Competitive maps: Treasures
It's not the number of resources you get from the treasures that's the problem it's just that some are too easy or too difficult to get for what they give you (thereby ruining the whole time spent = resources gained dynamic). e.g. 140f (too easy), 2 cows (too difficult), etc. For the most part thoug...

Re: Getting better?
Improving your APM, as others have said, is a good way to improve as player. When I was still a scrub who knew nothing about the game I realized at some point that I was reacting very slowly to what was happening in game. Eventually I started increasing my mouse speed slightly every couple of days (...

Re: Competitive maps: Treasures
Time is the resource you spend to get your treasures, reveal the map, construst TPs, etc. and when the early game only lasts for 180-240 seconds, you need to make use of it as efficiently as possible.

Re: Map Discussion: What's "good," "bad," "standard?"
On the whole "longer games require more skill" argument: It requires different skills, but possessing only these mid or late-game skills doesn't necessarily make you a better player than someone who's more early-game focused. To explain some of the differences: Once you reach later points ...

Re: Competitive maps: Treasures
Treasures are totally fine. It's not like it's free (unless the map spawn is garbage). Every treasure costs you time to take. During those ~30 seconds you spend taking 95w your opponent is revealing the map and grabbing smaller treasures to match. As long as you spend your time well in age 1—as in, ...

Re: Map Discussion: What's "good," "bad," "standard?"
@Goodspeed notification I don't think that SC2 reference is relevant given that certain civs are just so much stronger at different points in the game because of the age-up mechanic. And as Ryan said high-resource maps just favour a different set of civs over lower-resource maps (ESOC maps aren't l...

Re: Map Discussion: What's "good," "bad," "standard?"
But ESOC won't ever allow RE maps in a tournament pool again. For whatever reason. Personally I would love to throw Mongolia or Deccan into the mix occasionally, but I've accepted the reality that that's never going to happen again. Besides, it is true that RE maps spawn much more inconsistently th...

seriously, though, whats wrong with Bengal? this may be one of my favourite ESOC maps out there Absolutely nothing. But I can tell you exactly what people THINK is wrong with it: - Elephants - Cliff - Bayou-esque design Too bad none of them realize Bayou would be a great map too if it had consisten...

Re: Map Discussion: What's "good," "bad," "standard?"
While I do agree with most of what you wrote, I (as you already know) disagree with one point. A map that forces people to play only a couple civs is imo not competitive . . . when you reach the point where, say, 75% of the civs can't be played on a map, I think it's too restrictive. For one thing,...

Re: Playing by the rules in tournament vs making the rules up as you go
Kaiser, Mitoe and even I were aware of that some days before the serie. From what I understood, Mitoe said that he was okay to change the map pool but he wasn't sure if the other admins were okay. For the record I would never be okay with changing the map pool. That would be unfair to everyone orga...

I actually made this exact same post in this thread, as it was the true intention of the thread: http://eso-community.net/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=8566 I always hear people complaining that maps like Tassili, Bonnie Springs, Indonesia, etc. "aren't competitive" because they're "non-st...

Re: Announcing ESOC Invitational #2!
To be honest I just want to have the map discussion. I always hear people complaining that maps like Tassili, Bonnie Springs, Indonesia, etc. "aren't competitive" because they're "non-standard" (which is a subjective term in this community, by the way). But no one ever seems to g...

Re: Announcing ESOC Invitational #2!
Btw who is invited to this invitational? @somppukunkku notification for sure. He was the one who finally inspired us to take these measures to balance of the game once and for all. All he had to do was convince me that Bonnie Springs was a bad map and that's where it all began. No one can even comp...

Announcing ESOC Invitational #2!

Re: RO 8 RULES
Well this is what makes a tournament exciting because you can't know how the results are going to go, sometimes you show your skills sometimes you don't. I think Somppu could beat Kaiser but you probably need to step up your play a bit as-well. I only caught a bit of your games vs Mitoe but all I s...

Re: SPRING CHAMPIONSHIP 2015: Why has Veni lost 0-5 vs H2O and won 5-0 vs Nagayumi?
H2O prepared a lot for Veni, and Veni plays a lot of very standard Euro matchups. This made it easy to have a winning game plan on each map.
Unfortunately he did not prepare at all for BlackStar, aside from 2-3 French mirrors on Kamchatka the night before.

Re: RO 8 RULES
That's interesting, because I do understand why some might dislike Bonnie Springs, but have yet to see a single argument explaining how it's non-competitive, only some claiming that it is; ostensibly because they don't like playing on it. That's exactly the reason. Anyway, I've tried to explain ten...
