Abus breaks the guard upgrade consistency and it's hardly ever brought up. If anything the TAD and TWC expansions really glorified the whole very inconsistent pricing on age 3 and age 4 techs and it's always been argued as a civ bonus or what not. Hmm seems consensus is to give ports another eco boost in the form of free upgrades or pseudo villager cards. Not sure how that makes them more fun to play? Ports already have access to them age 2 via card.
It's always been a possible first shipment age 1, but usually sets you back cause opponent can easily deck check.

Gujarati Gunpowder(II) Muskets have +2 range. Not sure how to implement the range upgrade wether it should be on a card or tech upgrade, but I like the better range for units cause it plays into the Portuguese extra range gimmick. It's cause they were available age 1 with ottos and ES nerfed them into the ground.
