Landsknechts are too slow to catch x-bows or minutemen (and would slow down any dopps you group them with) and the shipment requires a significant upfront investment, after which the ultimate value of the card is 560g anyway, as compared to 900 of 3 dopps + 2 uhlans.

It's quite bad.

Is there a match-up where correct scouting of the opponent's plans is hard and more important than having the age-up bonus?

Ports have an age-up that allows them to train infantry in Town Centers. Also the Logistician guy.

Revolutions still likely won't be meta, because for that a fast industrial would have to be feasible. A revolt expected in a given MU on a given map would be even easier to counter.
