I only like to send 600w if you're transitioning to water or doing a TP play. I usually prefer trickle trickle export or trickle 5 sepoy trickle export. regarding 600w/trickle... well, trickle is more economic for the long run, while the 600w gives you faster options such as adding a stable, easier market ups while producing army constantly. The later you send 600w, the less 'useful' of a shipment it becomes i feel, you got more eco already anyway....

I am not sure renaming the whole aoe3 folder is the best solution. Actually deleting NewProfile3.xml in Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\Users3 usually solves the problem. Note that this may mess up your in-game settings so I'd recommend making a backup of it. Deleting the NewProfile3.xml folder...

In the late game, when they get upgraded, they become worth their cost. But as H20 said, making less Ashis and going more Yumi-Nagi is a better option. Ashis as a main unit in the composition is not ideal.
