Re: Proposed Rule Change: Casters
It's almost never missing. It's mostly positioning since it not supposed to be fixed and people go crazy if objects aren't perfectly symmetrical. I agree that casters should check everytime. Don't know if pause would improve that since they will just forget to pause. Just have to work on that routine.

Re: How to scout RE maps
This is one of those things I honestly wouldn't share because people could learn by themselves by just investing the necessary time on it. Giving it away levels up the competition and I don't know if that's good or bad honestly. Here we have some tier 1 garja logic, which actually explains most of ...

Re: FI Aztec Pros and Cons
So you guys didn't know about the regen ability? It's not really that good when you want firepit on attak dance anyway. Also sending 2 cards for the explorer is not great. Definetely abusable, but far from actually good.

Nah iro and sioux have crap eco they don't have the long term advantage, which india does vs most civs for most part of the game.

Re: Competitive maps: Treasures
Progression is not linear because it would get out of hands. Big treasures not only can be disruptive for you BO (can squeeze another TP or similar) but also incorporate the risk of being stolen with all the consequences (explorer might die, one player gets a free net treasure, scouting is denied, e...

Re: Getting better?
It's not really the apm but having organized mechanics to perform the necessary tasks. You can't build up more strategy (or even just small tactics) if you don't have solid mechanics that allow the extra task to be performed. You do not need crazy apm to play decently and also you can't play decentl...

Re: Competitive maps: Treasures
It's all part of the game. It creates dynamic balance situations that are under the control of players for the most part. In the worst case it creates an imbalance that defines who s leading and who has to catch up.

Re: Indian Discussion Thread
India beats Japan on the vast majority of maps. Actually with some proper practice to prepare specific builds for the hardest civs, India can probably beat every single civ currently. But none is going to spend the necessary time to realize it.

Re: FI Aztec Pros and Cons
Committed FIs are never really good. They get close to being actually good when there is something fondamentally broken behind it (e.g. shogunate bug or cover mode bug, or old han) but still they are exposed to so many things that they shouldnt win a tourney game for example. The map does matter tho...

Re: Map Discussion: What's "good," "bad," "standard?"
ESOC maps are not even remotely that extreme. Literally all maps have certain standards that ensure all civs have atleast a shot in the very worst case. Even on Indonesia, which is supposed to be a unique map, you could just rush and win 80% of players at the moment since basically none of them is ...

Re: Playing by the rules in tournament vs making the rules up as you go
I have absolutely no say in the choice of map pools. I didnt even like most of them so far. The point here is that rules are set and players can either agree or forfeit. Then they can discuss it later on forums or w/e but they are not by any mean entitled to make their own rules during a series. As ...

Re: Playing by the rules in tournament vs making the rules up as you go
I'll make it simple for everyone since there is still debate over obvious stuff. You either (pretend to) play your games or you GTFO. All the in between options are not within your rights as a player.

Re: Playing by the rules in tournament vs making the rules up as you go
There are of course rules against giving free wins since they influence the score for the bettings. It is forbidden in other sports too since it ruins the show and is also the first step for matchfixing. As for playstyle you can do w/e gentlemen agreement with your opponent at your own risk but you ...

Re: Playing by the rules in tournament vs making the rules up as you go
Totally agree. Players should just play by the rules since they agreed when they signed up. Anything explicitly collusive can have consequences on the betting event and shouldn't be allowed. Players will probably end up agreeing on custom rules privately but atleast they must act poperly on the surf...

Re: ESOC Patch is unbalanced
Well yes its a fact, but what I mean is that the statement in itself has an extremely subjective relation to balance or the strength of a civ. There's very little possibility to have meaningful discussion over such a statement and how it relates to balance. The subjectivity is in what a statement l...

Re: Indian Discussion Thread
Elephant stats are fine. Adding more would clearly concentrate too much power on a single unit, causing huge diminuishing returns for all the other ones. The thing that is off balance is the amount of pop since it doesnt compare well stat wise with other units. The point then is wether or not elepha...
