Re: Spanish Discussion Thread

In my opinion people donā€™t make enough rods when going skirm rod lancer. The only job of skirm is to make sure opponent isnā€™t going pure goon and constantly kiting you, so should have like 10-15 of them. Next, if the rods did a good job screening the goons, you should only need 8-12 lancers to melt...

Re: Spanish Discussion Thread

I think Skirm Rod Lancer is a superior composition to the standard Skirm Goon Huss though. Rods and Lancers might not be great on their own, but they synergize really well.

Re: Spanish Discussion Thread

Here are my ideas for spain: - revert all EP changes - revert shipment modifier to vanilla (from current 25% discount to 27% iirc) - revert lancer and rodelero shipments to vanilla values - decrease 5 lancer shipment to 4, now infinite - increase rodelero attack from 10 to 13, multiplier vs. cav fr...

To be fair, there is no result in the past 3 years that indicates that garja is actually a great player.

Re: Chiropractors, well?

I do believe chiropractors could help you out, but it is indeed not a proven concept. The ring dinging seemed a little odd at least. The guy seems like he could just be a fraud. On the other hand, movements like that could surely have a real effect on a human body. So I dunno.

Re: Spanish Discussion Thread

I don't think it's a bad thing that Spain needs to abuse its tempo advantage a little bit. From time to time Spain can feel a little extreme though, although one could argue that it's not that problematic that there is a very extreme civ in the game. i agree it needs to abuse tempo advantage, but y...

Nothing, I think?

Except that, like all ranged infantry, they gained a 0.75 multiplier vs cav when going from Nilla to TWC (or TAD?). So on Nilla skirms aren't countered by cav as hard, which means that Dutch is probably a colonial powerhouse.

New proposal: people that complain about lag can play with no casters but then they don't get prize money.

Re: About restarts in tourney game

A nice start would be to remove the +100f possibility of wood/coin starts. That will make early TP stuff harder at least.

Re: About restarts in tourney game

Tbh, if its a tournament game and you're playing something like China vs Germany, you should just pull the plug when you see Germany getting an age 1 TP because the admins/player will probably give you a restart.

Re: the patch and all of the changes it has gone trough

It's a bit of a tricky thing to consider balance at the lower levels for a strategy game. Ultimately much of the skill is strategic of nature and thus it makes little sense to balance for a pr20 meta. After all, you're then ultimately balancing for mistakes that people are making. That's a bit like ...

Re: About restarts in tourney game

I honestly don't get why some players are jizzing all over the idea of doing one of two/three variations of the opening that don't change anything except that you're in a better position with some variations than with others. I've also never seen anyone complain about civs like India, Dutch, China, ...

Re: About restarts in tourney game

I dont get it tbh, the difference between starts can be huge for some civs. Just think of some extreme scenarios, like dutch vs india. If it's a coin start, india literally can't use the 100c. If it's a wood start, Dutch can't really use the 100w and india just straight up ages 20 seconds faster or ...

Re: the patch and all of the changes it has gone trough

If there were big changes in the official patches I really wouldn't mind, but in an unofficial patch it really turns me off. I don't always want to use EP, and it doesn't take many differences for me to get confused when switching patches. First of all I want to highlight something: Balance at rank...

Re: the patch and all of the changes it has gone trough

If there's one thing that ESOC is bad at internally, it's developing new procedures and carrying out new plans. The idea of an EP panel with high-leveled players and voting has been around for years, but it has never been acted on. I'm confused, isn't this actually the old way of how EP balance tea...

Its a bit of a logical fallacy to claim that because perfection doesnt exist balance cant get better. Of course it wont be perfect, but you can definitely make the balance much better.

Re: About restarts in tourney game

The sole reason I play aoe3 is to get an age 1 market, like Ive done a few thousand times, to make the game feel wildly different while I feel smart about myself. This is what aoe3 is all about: doing one of two variations in the opening phase and thus randomly getting ahead or behind.

Re: KickAss vs tabben

It is 0 and it is literally irrelevant for aoe unless I am playing someone in my city. It is relevant. That means you have fast internet and that someone like Kickass will probably be the negative factor. I bet kickass has like 50-100 ping to a closeby server. I think that also means that your ping...

Re: KickAss vs tabben

I used to have worse internet and thus worse ping to the server. Ultimately I think the delay for a signal to travel to the other side of the globe is only about 300-500 ms. Any other lag is caused by bad internet which should be visible if you check your ping.
