Re: Archaic units buffs?
I'd swear I saw sources before claiming that crossbows were used when the spanish discovered the new world. This is correct. They had an accuracy advantage which also resulted in a range advantage over firearms at the time. Events of the game take place from roughly 1492 (Queen Isabella) to sometim...

Re: Archaic units buffs?
Nah, sorry, but that's bullshit. Crossbows and Longbows were quickly replaced by firearms already in the 15th century. The use of two-handed swords and halberds as battle weapons ultimately ends with the Thirty Years War 1648 which saw the last massive deployment of Landsknecht organized armies. Hal...

Re: Archaic units buffs?
It's just weird from an evolutionary POV to have archaic units like longbows, halberdiers and doppels present in later ages due to them getting imperial upgrades while the covered historical period is actually about the big shift to the age of gunpowder. It's even worse with the TWC and TAD civs. Th...

Re: Archaic units buffs?
I really hate AoE3 for archaic units (not technically speaking). There'd have been so many other, so much greater units from the 17th, 18th and 19th century to be covered. But with all these early and late medieval longbowmen, rodeleros, halberdiers and doppels the game is too much dominated by Age ...

Re: Announcing Congo Mod!
The bitter truth just is that (usually) only people coming from a specific country will play one-civ-mods. The only realistic way to get a lot of players play a single new civ is to implement the civ into an already popular project. Since from my own researches I know that the Kongolese kingdom(s) w...

Re: ruyters are lame
Ruyters work pretty well from a technical point of view if you know how not to overkill and micro with them. A 1pop dragoon with worse stats is a nice idea, but apart from that Ruyters are just stupid units, just like there are many stupid units in AoE3. Their plain name translates to "Rider&q...

Re: [Mod] Napoleonic Era 2.1.7b, works with Steam & ESO
Fixed the formatting of the main post (thanks to @Durokan) notification @noissance notification : That's certainly a possibility and would make archers a nice spice for later ages (even though I intend to give most civs with archers a royal guard upgrade). Had some epic Italian mirrors with Yurashic...

Re: Icon
what does it make? It shows the first unread post in a thread, which is useful especially in long, very active threads. @iNcog notification : Yes, I could technically design a new icon for that, but making it bigger could be a problem, because the icon height exactly fits the text height of the thr...

Re: Possible NE tourney
I forgot to add : The tourney will most likely be played with NE 2.1.7b + AI Limit Hotfix, that makes it possible to use ALL original and NE civs. The hotfix is the first application of the Unhardcode Patch by kangcliff and danielpereira btw. Regarding Smackdown & Balance : In the NE thread I'v...

Well, their patch is for everyone. Whether they have an interest in the EP, I do not know. Both are undoubtedly interested in improving AoE3.

Re: AoE3 Unhardcode Patcher by danielpereira & kangcliff
Guys, kangcliff is a high-ranking member in the NE team. I also created the contact between kangcliff and daniel. You could just ask me ..
Daniel Pereira has a history with WoL and the FE team. Originally the AI and revolution limit were the two only things they wanted to overcome.

Re: Announcing Congo Mod!
Fun fact: I did consider a Congo civ for NE already half a year ago. More as a bonus civ though. ^^
I'd have said that maybe we could've sketched the civ outline together, but then it occured to me that your idea might be quite different to the one I had in the context of NE.

Hm, I'm too much in a hurry to answer to specifics of your outline, but I'm glad to see a civ outline on these forums at all.
May I ask what's your motivational background to make a Congo civ?
