He's hinting that even if he came out publicly announcing a tax hike for the rich, congress could do something else, just like they did when Bush Sr promised no new taxes ('read my lips - no new taxes') but then congress forced his hand and raised taxes. Which cost him the elections. But then he sa...

Re: European politics
I mean the resurgence of far right parties is found everywhere really, I guess it wouldn't be a surprise to see this happen in Romania as well. Look at Italy for instance. Idk if Simion's AUR party can be called far right. They did kick out the Georgescu guy who won the first round in the elections...

u2012 Wtf is going on over there A lot. The PM resigned and called his social-democrat party to withdraw from power, after the presidential candidate they supported together with the other mainstream party (national liberals) failed to even make it to the 2nd round. He's trying t...

As long as employment in the US is high, its trade deficit is a good thing. Trade deficit is just a made up motive. Just like the "USA is gonna take over Gaza and turn it into the Riviera of the Middle East" scenario that was dangled in front of the media until Arab states in the region r...

Re: US Politics Megathread
Since the US economy got so heavily financialised after the 80s, this has had a pull effect on the whole economy. The top earners were doing pure asset trading and management, turning any shred of real economy into a security that could be traded, used as collateral for credit, and those money used...

Translation: Had the 2020 elections not been rigged, he would have had his 2nd term until 2025. The radical left thought "we got rid of him", back in 2019, but now they got 4 more years.

Re: US Politics Megathread
You've been saying that you support Trump and that planet earth needs Trump for years. And now you're pointing out moralistically that Trump is making annexation threats directed at other countries. Don't you see the irony of you criticising the USA for now making such threats, because your favourit...

If he keeps trying to get out, we should consider letting him get into politics. Experiment conclusion: a hamster life w...
