Re: The Case for EP 2.0
Looks like the energy of the thread petered out a bit. Frankly, I would start on an EP beta with just .xml edits for lobby games. See if you can make the game feel better. If it's good then transition to possibly a more involved launcher

Re: The Case for EP 2.0
Extreme doubt that microsoft would do anything to help with this endeavor. Given the technical difficulties described ITT, it's quite possible that EP 2.0 is a pipe dream. Of course, they made it so that you can't obtain the legacy version of the game either, as an ultimate middle finger to aoe3.

Patch won't work out if you can't have a ranked ladder of sorts.

Re: The Case for EP 2.0
It probably would be DOA if it's just a "regular" mod, would have to be its own executable or you're severely handicapped. This is potentially problematic because with server-based multiplayer and more robust server anticheat you might run into server-side constraints. ESO just checked if...

Question is, would he even take it to begin with (putting yourself in the spotlights gets you a lot of hate) and would he get enough support from top players to balance, and devs to implement Maybe the head of the EP should get an anonymized account given the abhorrent treatment that previous EP le...

Re: The Case for EP 2.0
Relying on microsoft for "one last patch" isn't going to work, even if you fix the current known broken stuff (baja, italy, whatever else) then the broken stuff than hasn't been figured out yet will just surface. You would be in the same place as now. --------------------------------------...

Re: European politics
I didn't talk about anything verifiably real, only perceptions. Because for most people involved with political subjects, remote perceptions are their reality. And perceptions are produced and synthesised through media, influencers, podcasters, the whole opinion-building industry. word though at th...

Re: The Case for EP 2.0
A fan patch wouldn’t help the game, overall community, or new/lower level players. What it potentially would help is player retention/growth in the “high level” (~1600+) community. (/half answering this /half responding to the thread) I would say the retention and growth of the 1600+ community woul...

Re: European politics
I think putting them on similar footing is a bit of a false equivalence that is favorable to the right. I don't think the liberals are discussing taking away due process, impeding freedom of speech or supporting mass surveillance. I'm not sure what the left even stands for anymore, maybe some social...

Re: The Case for EP 2.0
Anyone hoping microsoft steps up is going to be sorely disappointed. AoE3 has always been dirt to the AOE IP holders. They came in for a quick cash grab and left when it was done. Cleaning up DE's design is going to be some work but I think doable if new EP team gets their hands dirty and goes for a...

Did NATO, EU, Soros win thanks to your secret services or did they prevent Simons from stealing the election due to Russian interference? Those are two different takes.

Re: The Case for EP 2.0
The first ESOC patch was created with the mindset of being able to use Garja's maps for rated games which was in itself already a huge improvement from standard patch. The quality of those maps was night and day compared to the poorly made maps that came in the standard version of the game. From the...

Re: The Case for EP 2.0
I think this should be done. This is a fantastic idea and it should be done; AoE3 tended to flourish when official development wasn't around. I was flamed in the last thread where this was brought up but I've been around the game since 2007. The prospect of EP 2.0 actually sounds genuinely exciting....

https://i.imgur.com/1vgAiOE.png First time I've ever heard a US president having a sane message on the Middle East. I'm hopeful that it doesn't escalate beyond conventional warfare. The repercussions of seeing nukes go off would be resounding. The trophy of that territory may not be worth the cost of setting up a nuclear weapon. We'll have to see

I mean the resurgence of far right parties is found everywhere really, I guess it wouldn't be a surprise to see this happen in Romania as well. Look at Italy for instance.
