Just for the record: before TAD cav was considerably worse than afterwards, because ranged inf didn't have a malus against them. Taking this game's original release into account, cavalry has generally been buffed, even though the development appears to be invertedly U-shaped, indeed.

Re: US Politics Megathread
Just to say it: capitalism doesn't necessarily imply free markets. You can, e.g., very well have a capitalist society with significant obstacles to free competition in the form of regulation or direct intervention. There is nothing objectively hostile to capitalism in the De Santis quote above. Free...

Re: World Cup 2022
In my eyes, Morocco played an efficient defensive playstyle and performed better as a team (which helps said playstyle) than the Portuguese. The latter, however, had a significant edge in useless statistics like ball possession (MOR 27% - 73% POR). Not allowing the opponent to score a goal is quite ...

Re: European politics
It's like cultures have ages and in their later ages they lose their nativity/instincts and become a generic power structure. Cultures are not very stable constructs to begin with and they move faster the larger and the more heterogeneous an underlying population becomes. I'm not sure whether I und...

Re: European politics
I believe the problem is not necessarily actual immigrants. The problem would be romanians coming to richer countries to 'steal' the jobs. They are willing to work for far less because the cost of living in their country is much lower, thus being essentially unfair competition. There is definitely ...

Re: European politics
I can understand people being discontent with it. The European Union promises equal rights to it's member's citizens. In this case, the EU doesn't hold this promise and gives Bulgarians and Romanians less rights than others. No matter if you actually use it or not, it easily makes people feel like s...

There's not even such a thing as "Western democracy" but rather a plethora of democratic models each with their own strengths and weaknesses. No one in their right mind advertises a specific democratic model as a political panacea. It is just that participatory governance processes are obj...

Yeah, I thought about that, that's why I made it clear that "you" means the West. Because that's where most of the grandstanding and Twitter outrage comes from. Frankly, I don't see (m)any people outraged by this subject in Romania. And, well, we're not really considered part of the West,...

Musk/skirm might work, but the unit is simply broken. I guess they fix it by giving Hakka...

These kinds of measures decrease in usefulness when there's a war raging across the border in which you do not actively participate. The problem is that while you can detect all the missiles early on, 99.99% of them are not going to enter your air space. Now you can choose to react to all potential ...

Insane that a missile could simply get into NATO airspace without getting shut down by an anti-missile shield. And then some US officials right now are saying: we can't confirm, we need to investigate. What happens if 15 such missiles hit Poland, are they gonna ask for a few weeks of investigations...

If I understand it correctly, the church tech Wallenstein's Contracts can be combined with Mercenary Loyalty to get rid of the coin cost of merc shipments for a sum of 1.500g. If that's the plan, I can't recommend it as it slows you down significantly to actually use it. You would need at least six ...

If your salary is high enough, 10% inflation is not going to be a concern. In Germany, further, the minimum wage was planned to be adjusted this year anyway and went from roughly 10€ to 12€ per hour. Even with 10% inflation, it means that the poorest didn't actually suffer a real wage loss this year.

Thereby showing that they didn't find a lasting solution to the problem yet. Beforehand, they had the (unwritten?) rule of only two terms in office, which automatically means that the power structure doesn't devolve into a cult of personality. Now that Xi Jinping seems to have rearranged his party b...

It's a bit too early for China to assess its own political model as more stable than Western alternatives. Let's see if they manage to find a lasting solution for the classic problem of successorship within autocracies.
