It’s £50/$70 for us here in the UK. I think I’ll just wait until this game goes on sale at Christmas time and buy it then.

£40 is still around $57. It should cost maybe £45 at most, £50 is just excessive

Where did I say the price was weird? I’m just suggesting that I’ll wait until a sale to get it. I’ll let everyone else game test it first then I’ll see if it’s worth getting anyway

I just hope DE is not going to implement all of the EP changes. Right now it is a big clusterfuck.

It mostly depends on taxes in the region, developers usually sell the game to the 3rd parties at fixed rate of ~42$ for a 60$ game. *Based on US pricing. Anything excess or less depends on taxes. And prices in some countries are kept less to promote sales due to local economy.

You guys are complaining about 60 dollars. We have to pay 83 dollars. That's more than Aoe 3 was on release.

Are you guys pretending to be elastic to the price if you end up liking the game?

In which universe paying 60 for a video game you gonna spend hundreds hours on it is too much ? I mean you are dedicated enough to be on a forum about the franchise but don't wanna pay for the game. '^^

We are not talking about a little independant game.

Bad comparison, the swiss franc is a very strong currency.
I expect the game to cost 50€ or 45€ instead of 60€ during its first sale (which might happen during christmas, but I somehow doubt it).
New AAA games mostly take at least 6 months until they go on sale for the first time.

60$ for a good AAA title isn't too much, I just don't know if aoe4 will live up to expectations of a AAA title.

Yea 60 is not much if it's good quality, but knowing Microsoft and how they launch a product, the first version is gonna be some buggy mess and it's gonna take months before they fix and make it usable.
I hope I'm wrong, though. I'd love to get back to AOE, but I'm not setting any hopes high rn.

Challenger_Marco wrote:for 60$ i think people might prefer to buy an AAA game instead of aoe4
from wikipedia: AAA is an informal classification used to categorise games produced and distributed by a mid-sized or major publisher, which typically have higher development and marketing budgets than other tiers of game.

AoE4 is definition triple-A. You might not have guessed it, but aoe4's budget is really big. They used animation suits and brought in real medieval combat consultants n shit. That's not average-budget development. It's a $60 game because a ton of money and effort was put into its production, not because they're trying to make a quick buck off of you. Whether or not it's fun and competitive enough to live up to the effort put into it is still undetermined of course.

edit: also want to add that this is Relic making the game, so it'll be held to a much different standard than any of the definitive editions, and any assumption of "buggy on release" is unfounded.
