Somalian French guide

1. Play france and age up with stable
2. Macro like u would macro for gendarmes and do knights (age 2).
3. Just kill all the shit, they win pikes too. If there are too many pikes (5x more than cav) retreat and age
4. Go Age 3 and upgrade gendarmes (u can age up with +35% cav HP wonder and then blacksmith) and then right click opponent army. Here 10 gendarmes win around 70 pikes.

This is confirmed and wins. Not sure if beats Mongol TC rush, didnt play vs it yet. Knights are like stereoid gendarmes you can train age 2. Oh, and there are no goons for most civs :)

The balance isn't good and French are insane but I feel like the balance is still within expectations for a newly released rts game. Every RTS has pretty bad balance on release. They just need to patch stuff quickly and make good changes now.

Knights are rly good but pikes trade fine with them as long as you have a similar investment. The bigger issue is the no snare so you can easily just run knights and most civs can’t do anything about it, unless you super wall.

Ive gone pure knights and lost to walls.

It doesn't help that everyone has 60% spears 40% bows and puts spears in front just to have them trampled while bows remain untouched.
Other than that, very much AOE3ish release balance.

there is always worse yes but it is not incredible either imo tbh
