All about Farming in Age 4
Good video by Spirit of the Law. Highlights:
how farming works for most civs regarding the internal farm grid and regrowth mechanism. how wheelbarrow affects farmers. how chinese farms differ from the other civ's farms. special english bonuses and others.
most important takeaway and something that I have struggled with:
If you shift click build a group of farms, and the last command is one of those farms, the vills will go as a group and build every farm and then go spread out to the individual farms (wasting a ton of vil seconds). if you shift click build a group of farms, and then click them onto a nearby mill, they will individually build and stay at farms. additionally, if they have any resources they will drop them before gathering food.

Re: All about Farming in Age 4
This hasn't been my experience. It's how I expected it to work coming from AoE2 but they actually still build as a group when I do this.if you shift click build a group of farms, and then click them onto a nearby mill, they will individually build and stay at farms
Edit: The difference seems to be that they build them as a group, but 1 vill will stay at each finished farm working, whereas in AoE2 after finishing the mill they immediately distribute to the farms and each farm will have only 1 vill building it. Not sure why they didn't just adopt that
Re: All about Farming in Age 4
Yeah I've found it best to just build them 5 at a time and just spam a lot. Building over 10 farms is a pain in the ass
