So cool but will this be sustainable? Like wouldn't 5 regular $20,000 tournaments instead like one every couple months, be better than going all in on one tournament? I just don't want to see us have one 100,000 tournament and then be out of sponsorship money from MS for six months.

My main concern now is that if another streamer down the line request lets say 30k funding and nilli declines it, it will look a bit suspect given that nilli authorised a 100k event for his own channel. The points about aoe3 and egc were kind of setting up the main point of nilli writing a sponsorship request for nilli to accept. Having one person being the "judge, jury and executioner" from the persoective of someone outside the loop looking in is where i think the causes for concern lie. Ive already passed on my feedback about this to those needing to know

I seriously doubt Nili was the decision maker on his tournament, regardless, it isn't a good look.

I just hope DE is not going to implement all of the EP changes. Right now it is a big clusterfuck.

Yea, if he was the one who approved it it’s a very bad look.

No it wouldn't be better, for viewerbase having "that one big" tournament is really important. oversaturation is real and hurts communities a lot

I don’t think oversaturation is probably an issue for this game, but having at least one “major” a year is really important.

I'm likely to watch (as in watch all of the ro8+) a 100k event despite not playing the game, and would be very unlikely to watch a 20k event, so it matters for sure. To be fair I'd watch this regardless because it's a NAC and previous NAC's have been amazing, but a 100k event every year is much more likely to draw me as a viewer than 5 20k events.

It's a waste of money. Nobody is playing Age of Empires IV anymore. The game has 1/7 of its initial player base.
While other games increase their player counts steadily Age IV lost players rapidly.

A pathetic attempt at revitalizing the game.
There are clearly other steps needed that require work from the devs.

How is 100k a lot ? if you put things in perspective : aoe2 had a 75k tournament, sc2 has a 500k...
And aoe4 is the most played RTS atm so I would say it is disappointing that they can barely put more money than for example an aoe2 tourney.

Most played? AoE4 player numbers are already below AoE2 and still falling: https://steamcharts.com/search/?q=age+of

Aoe 4 probably has lot of game pass users
Fine line to something great is a strange change.

As does AoE2, which has been on game pass for a couple years already.
Unfortunately those numbers cannot be compared, since MS doesn't release them.

You could also use the ranked ladder/Quick Match. Players appear on them if they have played a minimum of 10 games and at least 1 game in the last 28 days.

They are somewhat similar for MMR-based games but for lobby/custom games, AoE2 has the clear edge. Obviously this only focuses on multiplayer.

I am sure there are more starcraft players.

The game is losing players so quickly. If this trend continues there aren't gonna be many left.

How can they launch a game with the hotkey support equal to a 1998 game?

Oh ok Im not really up to date since I dont play anymore I didn't know 4 had lost so many players in a very few time. How awkward it is to see the current game state... Guess it was to be expected when you don't release a finish game...

This still blows my mind how they released a big RTS without custom hotkeys, I was waiting till they fixed this before playing but I now seem to have lost any interest I once did have.

I spent £50 and played 7 campaign missions and maybe 1 custom game vs AI, what a fool I am. Oh well MS can consider it a donation for aoe3 over the years. :P

Yes, and if they release it without them you'd think they would add it in a week. But still not even mentioning it.
