Drongo discusses rampant cheating/exploiting in AoE4

Post by EAGLEMUT »

Drongo discusses rampant cheating/exploiting in AoE4, as one of the already qualified Red Bull Wololo players gets banned for maphacking.
A statement has been released indicating this ban to be a result of thorough joint investigation by all of Red Bull, Microsoft, Relic and others.

Seems likely the guy cheated but where's the evidence? They should at least give some statement on how they know this. "It was a thorough investigation" is a total cop-out. Someone cheats in life you have to present evidence, so why not here? Considering this guy is going to be losing money over this, there should be some burden of proof.

if you divulge exactly how someone cheated, in a span of time where there may not have been a patch yet to remove said cheat from the game, it might create additional vulnerability that other players might learn how to use and start abusing that cheat

You don't have to divulge technical details. And just patch it. If the evidence is based on the detection of an exploit, surely it's already patched by now

what evidence do you expect to be shared then? point to instances in specific games where the maphacking appears to have influenced the outcome of it?

Simply "we detected an exploit" would be enough for me, but ideally they'd share what kind of exploit it is and in what ways it's against the rules.

Thing is if they had actually detected something like that his aoe4 account would be banned which I understand is not the case. That makes it seem like their entire "investigation" is other pros and their confirmation bias going through some replays and going "mmmyes suspicious" while laughing straight to the bank with their increased traffic and increased chance to win the tourny

Drongo is not expert in any game. Point. So its useless to believe this noob. Other pros of aoe4 need to present evidence. Its useless for a pro to cheat and risk his career.

I mean they were able to detect hacking in nilla as well. But they never fixed the issue. So detecting something and fixing it are two pairs of shoes. Let's be honest age 4 for sure has less of a budget now.

If they had, they could've come out and said it, and definitely would have banned his account. Since that didn't happen, I think we can safely conclude it's not based on the detection of hacks.

There's some drama in Chess that reminds of this. Carlsen quitting a tournament insinuating that it's because his opponent is a cheater but there is no evidence.

AoE4 has active support

But yeah it wouldn't necessarily be patched already. It's clear enough that it's not based on detection of an exploit for other reasons
