I tried to download new patch but my Norton security removed it because of virus threat
(Esoc patch 5.0.0.2 has been removed and is not safe.)
Threat:high
Threat type:Heuristic virus
Is this a false flag or is there any known problem with this patch?I saw that there was
a similar problem with previous patch and it seems that everyone is saying that the patch
was fine. But I need to make sure.
patch 5.0.0.2-Virus threat?

Re: patch 5.0.0.2-Virus threat?
Yeah, most anti-viruses incorrectly flag all versions of the ESOC Patch as a virus. Relatively unknown executables, like the patch for a community of this size, tend to get flagged.
Further, some of the things we do with regards to injecting code into the game for anti-cheat purposes is pretty similar to the way viruses will hide themselves in other processes running on your PC, which also increases its likelihood of getting flagged.
As long as you're downloading directly from ESO-community.net, it should be safe to use.

Since the site operates over HTTPS, the transfer between ESOC and a client is secure.
Further, assuming that communication was somehow compromised, communicating the checksum over the same compromised connection would give little further security, since it too could be altered.
When I get a chance I’ll be happy to provide a checksum for you, which would allow you to verify the authenticity of a binary received from a third-party source.
