Downloading Additional Files

I should preface this by saying I do play on kUbuntu, on Proton via steam. And that may have an effect. I'm trying to avoid making a separate wine prefix with a steam install, just using the ones Proton creates. Now, that said, the problem I'm running into doesn't seem like it's related.

I run the setup wizard for 6.0.1.0 and it goes to the "Downloading Additional Files" screen. I get a message on the progress bar that says "Cannot connect" and a popup that says "Download Failed: Success. Check your connection and click 'Retry' to try downloading the files again, or click 'Cancel' to terminate setup.

Any advice?

As far as I'm aware, the only working guide for making ESOC Patch work on Mac/Linux is this one, and it is using Wine: https://eso-community.net/viewtopic.php?f=110&t=16471
The particular failing step of the installer sounds to be Visual C++ 2017 redistributables download, which triggers only when it's detected to be missing on the system.
