yumi are like ashis, they are not that special for their cost early on , but later with ups they become pretty damn good. Probably their up cards will be nerfed.

Ah that'd be great, but of course needs some compensation. I'm not actually sure if there's any area in which Japan can safely be buffed :/

Because jap is fine atm and nerfing their upgrade cards would mean both their early and late game are bad.

Because jap is fine atm and nerfing their upgrade cards would mean both their early and late game are bad.

If by fine, you mean losing to a small handful of civs and steamrolling the rest then sure. Also they would still have good scaling if their upgrades are nerfed

On Ep they beat iro, india, sioux, dutch, otto, french, spain and ports. Russia, brits and china is probably fair and they lose to aztec and ger.

I'm pretty sure that Japan is the counter civ to Sioux but that's just Sioux who has a hard time vs strong musk civs which also have an economy.

Honestly I don't think Japan has any favorable match ups aside from that. Dealing with Japan requires knowing how to do so, but it's easily doable. Basically if Japan gets to the point where they have stacked enough upgrades on their units and have boomed beforehand, they should have the upper hand versus most (if not all) civilizations; getting to that point with Japan is not super easy to do versus a player who knows how to play vs Japan.

i think both of them have a good chance vs jap on EP, and on RE iro roflstomps all over jap, and i think sioux does perhaps slightly worse because of walling being better.
