2v2 Hidden TR Tournament: Announcement + Qualifier Sign Ups

2v2 Hidden TR Tournament
• 2v2 tournaments in which players will play on accounts with random names. Teammates will know each other’s identities, but that’s it.
• 8 Players, 4 randomly generated teams
• Format TBD
• 6 players have already been invited: dicktator_, floko83, sabusa, sergyou7, _ramen_, zivearia
• The last two slots will be determined by an open, double elimination 1v1 qualifier
• All game will be played on ESOC Andes with standard treaty rules (HM, TR 40 no blockade)
• Current prize pool: TBD but at least $100 USD, distribution TBD
• Admin: Riotcoke. Admin(s) will know the identities of each player and handle the generation of teams and distribution of accounts. I obviously won’t be an admin to the actual 2v2 tournament, I’m just making the announcement post and I’ll help with the qualifier

Why only Andes? Currently tr games are only being played on ESOC Andes, forcing players to play on other maps would cause some to play disproportionately worse.

How to prevent IP checking? During the 2v2 tourney players will host password protected rooms, to prevent anyone else from joining. There is of course no way to prevent players themselves from IP checking, we just have to hope people will play the tournament in good faith and not IP check to figure out who their opponents are.

Why hidden with random teams? Random teams are the only way to do hidden, because if we seeded it people could use that to figure out who people are (for example, knowing that me and floko will probably be seeds 1-2 and the two qualified players will probably be seeds 7-8, already helps people narrow things down a lot). Hidden is a cool format for both players and viewers, and has never been done in AoE3 (afaik, it for sure has never been done for TR), so it should be fun.

How did you decide who gets an invite and who has to qualify? Tourney was floko and ziv's idea (ziv provided the current listed prize pool) so they decided invites. Originally it was supposed to be an invitational with no qualifier whatsoever, but a couple of the players who we planned on inviting declined, so we decided to do a qualifier for the last two slots.

Qualifier
We are expecting <10 signups so we will not use ESOC infrastructure for the qualifiers. Sign up either by posting in this thread or msging me (usually playing on Conquerer999 or BoJackHorseman) or Floko83 on ESO, and then we will generate brackets using Challonge. Sign ups will probably close next week although can change. Players will be seeded according to overall treaty ELO on JP elo ladder. All matches will be bo3 and will be played on Blitztreaty Andes. Lax scheduling. Qualifiers will probably be casted (I could cast them). No repeat civs, which means if the BO3 goes to match point the player must play 3 unique civs. Agree to matchup in game 1, then winner picks first in the next game.

I am pretty sure player shittalk, mid game talks, salt will more likely give each other away than not.

I'm pretty sure about all the players are somewhat mates that play together on a regular base and therefore won't shit talk each other. In high level treaty games there is about zero toxicity besides sometimes flaming matchups or positions.
