we are already some days into E3 2017 and there is no "omg they will totally announce AoE4 this year bec Billy said he will take care of it himself and they are continuing a beloved strategy series but then it obviously turnes out to be some random syfy-geim or mobile stuff or whatever" - thread. what happened, did you all loose your faith? im disappointed...

I've actually read that the studio working on a "beloved strategy series" was dissolved in 2016, but have no idea how credible this source is:

Just imagine if they drop a remastered version of aoe3 + more expansions and features, bye to all the ep's work and balance XD

If they were going to do this I would imagine they would probably use a lot of EP's ideas/features (why would you not listen to your community?). More likely that they would basically just implement EP (at least for version 1.0)

The good people at microsoft are already using a community made patch as a starting point for the balance in the remastered games currently, it seems.

I don't think AoE3 needs to be remastered. The online platform perhaps, with actual dev support behind it. But ESOC basically already does that so.

Aoe 3 doesn't need to be remastered I agree but a decent level of support would be nice:(

I did watch the microsoft E3 conference with some false hopes of aoe3 happening. At some point in the assassins creed trailer they said "build an empire" and I was like PogChamp for a second but that quickly ended up being false hope again. I was extremely intruiged by the trailer of "ashen", thats a game I'm really looking forward to.

Probably another expansion announced at gamescon. Escape already has a discord channel regarding the event.

I guess its slightly off topic, but are there other games that have seemed interesting to you guys so far? Any RTS/strategy games on the horizon? I found that theres an unreal amount of poor remakes, of new fifa releases where nothing changes, yearly COD stuff, meanwhile not remaking some other really popular series. It's as if gaming companies don't even want to try to be fresh anymore. Overwatch (blizzard game) was a relatively fresh game, although based off of team fortress, but it did great. Why is there no more fresh stuff? At least, like I said, I'm really looking forward to that ashen game, it looked like its amazing.

It's very important not to confuse Age Of Empires (1997) with Age Of Empires HD (2009) and Age Of Empires HD (2017) and now Age Of Empires HD (2017). Can't wait until Age Of Empires HD comes out as well.
