Did we have a release date prior to this?

Hmm? See OP:
the remastered version of the original AoE that was set to be released on October 19th

Oh it's that edition.

It's great that they're delaying it because the beta, which I'm a part of, does NOT WORK AT ALL. LOL

Massive props to Microsoft, shows they're dedicated to the user experience and not all about money.

They are definitely dedicated to money, they just think they can make more money by providing a working game, so they can cashgrab the other 3 games as well.

It's not bad. This world works with money right?

I'm not saying it's bad. Businesses are cashgrabs after all. I'm just saying you shouldn't think they are all about user experience. If they were, they would have made the game playable on more platforms like Steam and more operating systems.

Yeah, I think they just want their product to have no bugs like AoE3 did. Not making it available on Steam and more operating system surely will hit their products like xbox, hard. :hmm:

Well im glad they are delaying it, a better game instead of a unfinished and bugged one. maybe I will actually be able to get into the beta , I have been invited but its doesn't work at all !

From the op:
They will allow many more people into the beta, which will give the core fanbase to give more input on the game. The 'definitive' mode was mentioned to be more free in terms of creativity than the classic mode, so sign up and beta test people!

n0el wrote:This is like the farthest thing from incompetence. They are delaying to release a better product. Seems to be a huge improvement over the past. I see this as a really positive sign of things to come.

Games like witcher 3 were also delayed, and turned Into huge successes thanks to the delay (adding extra content). This will make the game a whole lot better.

you trolling, thats a pretty common thing to do. Blizzard does it aswell and they are the most competent dev out there. the only reason i preordered sc2 expansions was to get into beta asap.

Was more of a rant tbh, after the fail of aom EE and aoe2 HD, their third try is the DE, and things arent looking good so far...

You're right, is it a pretty common thing to do, unfortunately. Pre-orders/EA is just a way to sell consumers an unfinished product.

I imagine Blizzard gets less flack because they have built a solid reputation that almost guarantees the consumer a quality product. That's not the same for the majority of developers.

The main benefit of early access is giving some games the funding necessary to see the light of day where otherwise the development would be too costly and they'd never have been made. However that's not the case for the majority of studios that abuse the early access system.

Either way it's certainly a legitimate criticism and not trolling.
