As for AOE1 DE, they've done a very good job with the graphics, they managed to keep the old feel; maybe the water with the lack of sand shores looks a bit odd. They fixed a lot of stuff online play desyncs at times. It feels so oldschool and that is good. I'd say it's a bit more Starcraft escue with the rough gameplay. Well worth the 20 bucks, especially if you're an Age fan.

Details:

Nice game, and some drush or tower rush strats possible but each map has got water so it's basically FIND SEA--> WOOD WOOD ->BOAT BOATS WIN.
Trade cogs actually take resources from your stats to trade for gold which is weird.
It is virtually impossible to micro, basically you select all army and you ATTACK MOVE.
You can not (as of yet) execute any of the fast moving strategies of AOE2 or AOE3. Like building 1 piece wood wall to protect your villagers from drush or move your archers back and kite as in aoe3.

The game looks nice but pathing is awful and multiplayer is buggy. Maybe those two problems can be fixed, but even so, people will then just realize how archaic the gameplay is. Yes the game was awesome in its time, but compared to the rest of the Age series (or any similar, more modern game), it's just really rough.
