Re: Can we restore surgeons to nilla glory?
i thought it healed 3k hp. but definitely not all
anyway, aging 10v is already quite nice, making that healing ability better would be too much lol. maybe the cool down could be less though. I do feel it's too long.

Re: Can we restore surgeons to nilla glory?
It heals every unit up to a total amount of 1000hp. IDK how the selection works, though.Garja wrote:Doesn't it heal every single unit completely? When you are at 220 old han army pop that's quite OP.
Re: Can we restore surgeons to nilla glory?
Up to a total amount of 1k hp for every unit I think?! Hence no selection cause it's every unit?
EDIT: lel that ability suck balls
The selection seems to be just: 1000hp / unit number = hp restored to each unit.

Re: Can we restore surgeons to nilla glory?
It's 1k hp total, not per unit. I'm not completely sure how the healed units are decided, but monk seems to have high priority, so 80-100% of the entire heal amount can easily go to your (even fallen) monk and that's it for the whole effect. I was truly appalled when I found out how terrible this ability is.
Re: Can we restore surgeons to nilla glory?
Active wonder abilities information:
Great Buddha (Japanese): Informers: Reveals enemy line-of-sight to allies for ten seconds. Cooldown: 300 seconds.
Temple of Heaven (Chinese): Transcendence: Heals, instantly, all units on the map up to a total of 1000 hitpoints. Cooldown: 216 seconds.
Taj Mahal (Indians): Ceasefire: Prevents all combat for 20 seconds. Cooldown: 450 seconds.
Tower of Victory (Indians): Inspiration: All land units gain 15% attack & hitpoints and 10% speed to base values, for 15 seconds. Cooldown: 450 seconds.
The cooldown is quite short.

I only tested with the same type of unit. Probably it just weights unit total hp in the function, then it splits 1k over all units.
Re: Can we restore surgeons to nilla glory?
why not just test it in EP so that we can all see? I can't really recall them being so OP on vanilla
Re: Can we restore surgeons to nilla glory?
I liked the Vanilla mechanics of it, although I'm unsure whether they were well-balanced. It's nice that it's micro-intensive, at least.

interesting topic, i'd like to see healers having more influence in aoe 3. Currently you pretty much see only indians benefiting of healing.

Make priests great again, 200 gold cost is redikolous. Probably healers take a long time to be spawned at the firepit too.
Iirc the chinese temple of heaven also gave the monk the ability to heal, not sure how efficient that was though. Overall the wonder itself is not worth building probably. Porcelain tower is always better.
The japanese can send missionaries or get the monastery techs for the ikko ikkis but i think both of these are ill advised in a competitive game.
Same goes for indians, you can make their brahmin heal faster with the monastery tech but it's not worth it.
Yup, healing in aoe3 kinda sucks, although sometimes i enjoy pulling my wounded cav back for a minute in team games to heal it.

I like the area effect; making it sibgle unit with a cooldown of 5s would make it too micro intensive in battles

You can already heal falcs to full hp with the area effect in nilla im pretty sure

Well, the medicine man treasure is very underrated. I’ve had a couple of games where I’ve probably healed over 1000-2000 resources worth of units with him.
There are probably games where it’s worth constructing healers, and we just don’t consider it because it’s never been part of the meta.

Re: Can we restore surgeons to nilla glory?
Whats the cost for making priests? 125c?
I wonder if one cant do them when going for spies vs japan.
Also sometimes in a mid game scenario you fight and forget vills on wood, it can be worth it to make a church for a healer or 2 since you wont need wood for housing anymore...

Re: Can we restore surgeons to nilla glory?
Sioux and Iro can produc healers from firepit and it's not too bad actually. Euro civs need church which usually doesn't happen. Also it consumes gold mines.
I dont thnk we are at the point where we should consider this stuff anyway.

If you save say 2 low hp cuirs with a single healer, isnt it worth it?

No, because of church.
Re: Can we restore surgeons to nilla glory?
You could save way more than just 2 low hp cuirs. Even if you build church just for some expensive units like cuirs, your other units will benefit too

Re: Can we restore surgeons to nilla glory?
I mean 100w and 125c seems worth it to get two low hp cuir back to full hp. That's less than the cost of 1 cuir.....

Re: Can we restore surgeons to nilla glory?
Probably works pretty well for a civ that requires a church anyways.
Added: when I was a lance on vanilla I played with using using the surgeons and field hospitals to heal up my spahi that would retreat to my forward base when they reached low health. That combined with its natural healing could keep most the spahi alive each match. I quit using it because it was just so slow, never thought about using the priest.

Re: Can we restore surgeons to nilla glory?
Of course with on demand healing they would be worth. I mean there must be a reason if they were nerfed.

Were field hospitals nerfed? I have not checked the proto on them. That was the big draw was I could always route the units to the same spot.
Re: Can we restore surgeons to nilla glory?
Field hospitals' cost is 400w. Let that sink in

Re: Can we restore surgeons to nilla glory?
Im well aware of the cost and the risk of that. Like I said I have not played with them since then. Plus it requires the surgeon card yes? Definetly not in a rush or ff. But in the long game would it be worth it around the 20+ min mark?
For otto if that keeps 5 spahi plus mams in game longer thats 2000 resources plus 2000 potential resources from shipments being kept in play. Right?
Kind of a null point if imams will do the same on tad. They will have a mosque anyways.

200c
100c with TEAM Cheap Healers or whatever it's called. At 100c they become super cost-effective units.
